Chromebook Safety!! Very Important!

Online Safety Concerns

CCSD monitors all student Chromebook usage through an application called Go Guardian. In a recent review of our behavior data we found that 77% of our Go Guardian alerts for explicit content occur outside of school hours. While we address all alerts that are sent to us by Go Guardian, we wanted to share these tips with you to help our students be safe online:

1. Have your child use electronics with online access only when they are in spaces in your house where an adult can supervise them. (We know it is not possible to supervise what they are doing on their ChromeBooks at all times, but if you are nearby they are much less likely to go to sites they shouldn't be on.)

2. Talk with your child about Go Guardian. Let them know that the adults at school can see and report back to parents/guardians everything that they do while using a CCSD ChromeBook.

3. Make sure that all electronics are charged in your bedroom or another part of the house that is not accessible to your child after their bedtime. As we all know, children and adolescents are not good at self-monitoring their online activity and this includes overnight when they should be asleep. If your child uses an electronic device as an alarm clock, buy them a basic alarm clock to use instead.

Holiday Shop Information

One of our favorite traditions, The Holiday Shop, is coming to Twitchell December 10-12. Students will have the opportunity to shop for gifts for loved ones with their classes during their scheduled time slots Tuesday-Thursday. Students who are absent will have time to shop on Friday from 8-10. If you would like to shop with your student, adults are welcome to come to Room 58 before school Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 7:35-8:00.
