Principal's Message
Happy Friday!
I hope everyone is settling back into their school routines after our winter break. We have been busy since our return. Last week, our school retaught our school wide expectations, particularly in our halls, lunchroom, at recess, and bathrooms. Here are some quick notes that I'd like families to know...
- No school Monday - I want to remind families that this Monday (1/20), we will not have school in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s' birthday.
- Pancakes and Pajamas - Next Saturday, our PTA is hosting a new event called Pancakes and Pajamas at Henking. The Henking/Hoffman school community is invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast. Please see the "from the PTA Newsletter" section for more information.

School Drop Off Area
Arrival and Drop Off Notes
- When dropping off and picking up your students, please be mindful of the neighbors that live near Hoffman. I have had a few families reach out to let me know that cars are parking in front of their driveway.
- In the morning, I've noticed that the car lane has been backed up more than usual during drop off. With the cold, it appears that many families are waiting until they get to the very front of the line to have their students get out of the car. If we are only dropping students off one at a time, this causes the drop off line to go a lot slower. Instead, I'm asking for families to consider letting your students out if you are one of the first 6 cars in line. With six cars unloading at once, the car line should be more efficient. I created a map with a "drop off area" highlighted to illustrate this request.

Dental Exams Right at School for Your Child
Dental health is an important part of a child’s overall health – we love to see our students’ healthy smiles!
This spring, District 34 is bringing Orland Park Dental Services (OPDS) to our schools to provide dental exams to any of our students who need them. As a reminder, the State of Illinois requires students in grades K, 2, and 6 to submit proof of a dental exam – but these in-school appointments with OPDS are open to any and all students! They provide dental services to children on public aid as well as those with private dental insurance.
The exams are provided by caring, licensed dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants with state-of-the-art portable dental equipment. OPDS has been providing in-school dental services since 1999 and their healthcare professionals ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the schools.
Parents and guardians who complete the consent form do not have to join their child at the appointment (but you are welcome to come in). If you have questions or need assistance, contact District Nurse Shari Stadler.
