Better Together: Strength through Sharing

Registration is open for our Annual Conference on Tuesday, July 18, at the East Bay Educational Collaborative. This is a great opportunity to get together with colleagues from around the state. The conference LibGuide provides details on the schedule, sessions, and registration.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own device. Many sessions are hands-on, allowing you to update your Destiny site or LibGuide.

AudiobookSYNC is a summer program of FREE audiobooks for teens 13+.
Two audiobooks are available each week through the Sora reading app. April 27 - August 2, 2023.

Access Details

• Titles are available worldwide and change every Thursday at midnight Eastern time during the season.
• Titles are accessible in Sora, the student reading app from OverDrive.
• Sora is available in your browser at SoraApp.com, or as an app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Each SYNC audiobook will be featured in Sora for a window of 7 days.
• Titles are yours indefinitely once you “borrow” them during their 7-day availability window in Sora.

Follett is set to release enhancements to the CDL procedure that will allow patrons to place their own holds and search the catalogs of RICAT CDL libraries. We have seen a slide show about the changes and should have a demo available at the Summer Conference.

SLRI announced the School Librarian of the Year at the RILA Conference on May 25. This year's honoree is Kimberly Yeaw of the Providence Career and Technical Center. Congratulations to Kimberly!

Invoices for the 2023-2024 school year have been emailed. Your invoice was sent to the person we had on file from the previous year and copies were sent to librarians. Please take the opportunity to check it and reply to info@rilink.org with any questions or changes. Databases can be added in the future if your funding changes.

However you are spending your days during summer break, we hope you can relax and rejuvenate after the challenges of this past school year. Dealing with censorship and its fallout, along with the after effects of the pandemic, is exhausting. But we are better together and will continue to support each other in 2023/2024.

The Summer Reading 2023 LibGuide is on the RILINK website. If you have a list from your school or district to add to the guide, send it to Jackie.
