PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Since the start of the second semester there have been a lot of short breaks or interruptions to teaching and learning. From sickness to school trips and sporting events, these things take away from classes having all Students and Staff present at the same time. This means loss of instructional time, realigning outcomes and catching up. Family Day, Teacher Convention, Professional Learning Days, Family vacations, etc. also make it feel as though we really haven’t seen Students much this semester. Maintaining balance despite the disruptions is essential to keeping Students in the right place and on track with their learning, especially as we get closer to Spring Break. Maximizing time, keeping accountability high and communicating proactively are ways we can all stay on top of things without becoming overwhelmed. It really does take all of us working together to benefit Students. On behalf of all Staff at CHSPS, we thank you for your ongoing support and efforts in keeping your child(ren) on top of the many things they have going on that are school related and outside of school. We cannot do what we do without your support!
Feel free to contact me and/or Mr. Madison Nickel if you ever have any questions (email: rcowan@brsd.ab.ca/mnickel@brsd.ab.ca or phone: 780-384-3817).
Be well always,
Richard Cowan
Principal
TREATY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, traditionally known as asiniskawsipisis (Stoney Creek), is Treaty 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples. The land on which we are located provided a travelling route and home to the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Nakoda, Tsuut’ina Nations, the Métis, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our learning and our life as a community.

ATHLETE OF THE MONTH - JANUARY
Landon Rosiechuk - Gr. 11 - He always shows up and has improved throughout the season. He gives it his all.
Caylin Brumwell - Gr. 11 - Caylin’s growth in the sport of basketball has been incredible. She has good court awareness and takes risks offensively. Defensively, she anticipates the ball and causes turnovers for the opponent with active hands and deflections.
Bella Gordash - Gr. 9 - Bella has been a dedicated and respectful teammate. She is a beast with rebounds and has been excellent under the basket.
Benett Patten - Gr. 7 - Benett works hard to balance both basketball and hockey. As a young player, he shows great confidence on the court and he continues to make an impact on our team.
CITIZEN OF THE MONTH - JANUARY
Triton Moore - Gr 7 - includes others and makes sure nobody is alone; everyone has a friend.
Katelyn Liboiron - Gr. 8- goes out of her way to support her peers and help out teachers.
Ethan Skoberg - Gr. 9 - Ethan was helping with skating with grade ⅔ and 4. He was very helpful and both on and off the ice. He gave lots of great pointers and support to both new skaters and kids playing shinny.
Keeley Sorken - Gr. 9 - Keeley is a great help with the Mini Dunkers. She is volunteering her time to help coach. Keeley is excellent with the grade 5 & 6’s and is a pleasure to work with. Keeley is always willing to help people and truly cares about others.

CHSPS BOUNDARY REVIEW
CHSPS Attendance Boundary Review
During Oct. 2023, BRSD Board of Trustees held attendance boundary review meetings with school parents and families in Camrose, New Norway, Ryley and Daysland. All feedback has been important and appreciated.
Following the receipt of the Consultant’s report, the Board met and accepted the Consultant’s report and recommendations. In reviewing the feedback received, the Board, through the Community Engagement Committee, determined that a third option should also be developed reflecting this feedback and the desire to address some geographical considerations, largely in the eastern areas of the School Division.
Trustee Dwight Dibben will be discussing the attendance boundary review at the next CHSPS School Council Meeting on Monday, March 11 @ 6:30pm.
