AVID College Shirt Day Wednesday, November 13!
📢📢📢 Interim Reports Go Home Friday, November 15! 📢📢📢
Interim reports are a snapshot of the halfway mark in the quarter. This is a good time to have conversations with your child and communicate with your child's teachers. Remember, the 4 grades for each quarter are the ones that make up the year end grade and if your child is in a high school credit class, the end-of-course exams in each class is 20% of their grade!
Picture Make Up Day Thursday, November 14

We have a limited number of CEW sweatshirts for sale in the front office for $20 each.

Exercise
Per the CDC, “Children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 need 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day. - Running
- Bike riding
- Active games that involve running, such as flag football
- Jumping rope
- Sports like soccer, basketball, or tennis
- Martial arts

Anti-Bullying Culture
Research shows that learning and practicing gratitude has lasting impacts on teenagers tendency to engage in bullying and cyber bullying. Experiencing positive emotions, such as gratitude, may naturally lead to an expansion of students’ positive thoughts and actions. Teaching children gratitude can help them feel happier, support better social relationships, and improve overall health and well-being. In fact, recent studies suggest that grateful teens (ages 14 to 19) are more satisfied with their lives, use their strengths to improve their communities, are more engaged in their schoolwork and hobbies, and have better grades. They’ve also been shown to be less envious, depressed, and materialistic than their less grateful counterparts. Gratitude seems to orient us toward building and strengthening our relationships rather than tearing them down. Over the next two weeks, we will be participating in various activities that help students and staff to practice gratitude!
How can you encourage your child to understand and practice gratitude? Strategies that can help foster gratitude in kids include asking gratitude-focused questions, performing acts of kindness, and modeling gratitude in your own life. Encourage your child to say "thank you" to others, for large and small things.
- Noticing: Recognizing the things you have to be grateful for.
- Thinking: Thinking about why you’ve been given those things.
- Feeling: The emotions you experience due to the things you’ve been given.
- Doing: The way you express appreciation.
Discipline Updates
As an addition to our weekly parent communication, we are including information regarding discipline infractions that are occurring at CEW South. Our goal is never to "catch kids"; our goal, in regards to discipline, is to coach, in partnership with our parents, the expectations the school and district have for student conduct. We see this addition to the weekly communication as a key tool to partner more closely with parents.
We had our PRIDE time extra recess celebration on Friday and 98% of students met this goal! Great work, Wolverines! Continue to encourage your student to keep their hands and feet to themselves, make sure they are not "rough housing" or "horse playing" and to resolve any conflicts peacefully. Remind students to get an adult for help or advice.
No Zero Hero Ice Cream Party!
We are encouraging our students to stay focused and on task for the last two weeks before fall break. All students who have turned in all assignments from November 11th-November 21st will get ice cream during lunch on Friday, November 22nd. Please encourage your student to complete and turn in all assignments!
