Wrangler Weekly
Week of October 2, 2023
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
Comal County Fair Weekend is here!
We hope you enjoy the long weekend and all the festivities that come with it, including the great parade. If you are there, give a cheer for our Wrangler band, dance, and cheer who will be representing us so well!
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Go Gold Week to support Childhood Cancer Awareness. Your effort raised $981.46 that will be split equally between St. Baldrick's Foundation and The Seth Strong Foundation.
This coming Wednesday our 8th graders will be taking the PSAT 8/9. This assessment provides a window into a student's college, career, and military readiness. Please ensure that your 8th grader has a good night's sleep on Tuesday and a solid breakfast on Wednesday.
Also, 8th grade parents -- please mark your calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 18. This is the night SVHS will be inviting you in to see what your 8th grader has seen at the Rising Rangers event (SBMS eighth graders will visit SVHS on Tuesday, Oct. 17). It will be extremely beneficial to take advantage of this night as it will help you guide your child in determining their four-year-plan for high school. Even if you have had older students go through SVHS, each child is different and programs change. We need your help in guiding your soon to be high schooler toward electives and course planning that best suits their needs.
With the start of October comes our big push for PTA's Reflections Contest. SBMS intends to again lead the district in submissions. We have some amazingly talented students, and we are encouraging them all to FLEX! Whether their talent lies in visual arts or writing, dance or music, or even photography or film making. Give your kiddo a nudge and know that we will be doing the same! Please check the PTA corner below for details -- all submissions are due Nov. 3. We had MULTIPLE students go all the way to state and WIN recognition last year!
Finally, just a reminder to that when coming through the pick up line to post your car rider number in an easily visible spot. Some numbers get pushed down into the dashboard crevice and our team is struggling to see those and enter the information quickly. If you need another copy of your number, please call the school and we will send another home with your student. Thank you in advance for you help.
Go Wranglers!

PSAT Testing for 8th Graders - Oct 4
Our 8th grade students will be taking the PSAT the morning of October 4th. An email was sent to all 8th grade parents on Thursday regarding PSAT & College Board Account setup. Please look for that email and contact keely.zach@comalisd.org if you have any questions. A couple of reminders for this day:
- We will have a closed campus this day, so no bringing lunches or visitors.
- A restful night's sleep and a hearty breakfast is the best start to a PSAT.
- There will be no tutoring this morning as we set up for testing
- Please try to avoid scheduling appointments for this day, if possible
Rising Ranger Parent Night - Oct 18
SBMS Tutoring Schedule (we will share updates as coaches' seasons change)
TUTORING REMINDER: If a student is looking for a specific teacher and they are unavailable, we send them to another teacher in the same department, when possible.
