Each book study will consist of the following:

• Virtual Kick-off via Zoom (45 min - 1 hour)
• Weekly reading "assignments" and discussion posting requirements in our new Learning Management System (LMS) Adobe.
• Virtual Wrap-up via Zoom (1 hour)

David Kilpatrick’s Essentials book provides an excellent summary of reading research and how to practically apply this knowledge to understand, assess and intervene with struggling readers. Dr. Kipatrick presents the information in a very clear and accessible format which any professional seeking to better understand reading difficulties will find extremely helpful.

Many students, especially as they get older, only share their thinking in math class when they're sure they have the right answer. This means that some students hardly talk at all. Yet, talking and writing about in-process and unfinished ideas are vital to learning mathematics. How can we meet this challenge? Expand the idea of 'rough drafts' to the mathematics classroom.
