The district has added two more Canvas" sessions for parents on 8/20 & 8/22. Here is the FCS direct link to the Canvas page: https://www.fultonschools.org/.../instructiona.../canvas-lms

The district page has instructions on how parents can create a "Parent/Guardian setup an observer account for Canvas" in English, Hindi, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese.

In order to create a "Canvas observer account," parents will need a Canvas code provided by Elkins Pointe Middle School. Elkins Pointe will sending home Canvas codes shortly. Please stay tuned for more information on when the Canvas codes will be sent home.

Every Friday, the AVID students participate in "Fun Friday!" The purpose is for the AVID students to participate in fun and engaging projects and team-building exercises to show them that preparing to be "College and Career Bound" is not only rewarding but also a whole bunch of fun!

On "Fun Friday," the AVID classes painted "Study Buddy" rocks to keep at home in our study spot to become a "study supporter" 😊 WOW! What a fabulous way to make students smile while they sit down to hit the books!

Mrs. Okiyama is so excited to receive promotional items from colleges for her AVID classroom. She emailed over 1,700 universities, and items are rolling in! If you would like your alma mater or favorite college or university represented in the AVID classroom, please drop off new or gently used items at the front desk! Go, AVID!

Thank you to the PTSA and its business partner, Trader Joe's, for the awesome bagels, English muffins, fruit, cookies, donut holes, and spreads. Thank you to the PTSA for the Keurig coffee maker, and thank you to the parents for the donation of coffee pods.

Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and student PTSA members who attended last week's PTSA General Meeting. Co-President Cathy Sparks presented the state of the PTSA, and PTSA is off to a good start! If you know any of our amazing PTSA Board members, we'd love for you to join the PTSA!

The PTSA's goal is for 50 additional families to join, as well as 50 more student members. Additionally, the faculty has made a great start, with approximately 50% of the staff already joining. Titans, your help in achieving the PTSA's membership and financial goals are greatly appreciated!

We need everyone at Elkins Pointe, parents, teachers, and students, to join us in our mission to become a PTSA School of Excellence. Your participation is key to our success!

Soccer Tryouts will be on Wednesday, August 21st, and Thursday, August 22nd, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. All students must be picked up promptly at 5:30 PM on the Elkins Pointe athletic field/in front of the school.

Students need to have the forms listed below filled out and on file to be able to participate in Tryouts, practices, and games. The forms are listed on the FCS website under Athletics Documents & Forms (or see below):

• GHSA Physical Form completed by a doctor
• Concussion Form
• Participation Form
• Transportation Form
• Insurance

The completed forms can be brought to school or uploaded onto RankOne by creating a login on the RankOne website: https://www.rankone.com/. RankOne is the preferred method for submitting the completed forms.

The instrument clinic is on Wednesday, August 21st, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the Elkins Pointe cafeteria. Our 6th graders will try out the top 4 instruments they want to try. We have professional players for each instrument that will be set up in stations, and the students will have the opportunity to try out the instrument live. The process should take each student around an hour and a half to complete. Please make sure that students arrive before 7:00 PM to try out instruments. If a student needs to stay after school, they may do so, and the parent must pick up their child at 6:00 PM.
