Weapons Detection System
Plano Senior High School and Plano ISD are highly committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all students, staff and visitors. To help accomplish this goal, the district provides a comprehensive security program, which includes the use of random, suspicionless weapons searches to support safe, weapons-free schools. To assist in that effort, mobile weapons detection devices are being utilized at all senior high campuses, including Plano Senior High School.
These portable walk-through devices may be placed at building or classroom entrances as well as entrances to large gathering areas, such as hallways, gymnasiums, cafeterias, etc., to randomly screen students as they pass through it. These devices are designed to detect a range of potential threats, including weapons, in a non-intrusive manner, providing an additional layer of security without disrupting the flow of students, staff and visitors entering and exiting our facilities.
The use of these devices is not in response to any specific threat but is a proactive measure supported by Board Policy FNH (Legal) and FNH (Local) to maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your ongoing support for keeping all students and staff safe and focused on learning at Plano Senior High School.
