A Note From Our Principal, Mrs. Holmes
Welcome back from spring break! I hope it was restful for you. We are in the home stretch, but the race is not over yet. Continue to provide lots of love and support to your kiddos as this portion of the year can feel like a whirlwind. Yes, there are a lot of fun, "End of the Year", activities, but there is also a lot of testing and pressure they may feel to perform well. If your children are falling a bit behind with their grades, this is the perfect time to provide support to them. Simple things like reading books, spending quality time together, turning off the TV, and disconnecting from screens can help children focus on schoolwork and feel supported. Keeping to an early bedtime can also help support children who feel stress. This allows them to wake up early, have all of their things packed, and arrive to school on time. Starting school on time eliminates the panicked feeling that occurs when the lesson has already started, and you don't know what's going on. These simple things, along with communication to the teacher, can help things get back on track.
For students who are on track, make sure they don't put too much pressure on themselves to perform. They need to trust their instincts. Most of the time, their first instinct is the correct answer. Know that we love your children and want what's best for them. We encourage them to do their best but understand how the end of the year can feel to our students. If we all work together, we can make the end of the year a success for everyone!

Disagreement is no excuse for disrespect.
Disagreement and division have led to violence in recent times. To teach your child that it is possible and preferable to address disagreements with respect, make it a rule at your house: "When we discuss an issue with different sides to it, we will hear all sides and, if necessary, we'll agree to disagree." In that case, your child will have to accept your authority, but children shouldn't have to change their viewpoints. Learn more here!
