Administrative Assertions
Semester 2 has arrived and we are proud of the progress made by our students in Semester 1. Shout out to all of our students who wrote Diploma Exams, PAT’s and all other final assessments, as these were approached with determination and focus. We are hopeful that you met your achievement goals.
Our Part A: Writing Diploma Exams and high school Humanities final exams were written through Vretta, a digital assessment platform. These went smoothly and we appreciate the efforts of our students and teachers in navigating this new system. Semester 2 presents new opportunities and we trust that our students will make the most of their learning in their courses.
We wish the best to Mrs. Neuman and are excited for her to welcome a new addition to her family! Thank you so much for all of your stellar work as a leader at ECCHS. We are excited to welcome Mr. Thain as the Grade 10 acting administrator until the end of June. We also wish Mrs. Lewis-Bosman all the best as she also is soon to welcome another addition to her family. We will miss her in the kitchen while she is away. In addition, Mr. Zeller will soon be away as he is pursuing his career in the teaching world. Good luck Mr. Zeller and thank you for your work in our SAIL room and other areas of ECCHS. Please welcome several new staff starting at our school: Miss Throndson will be teaching Physical Education, Mr. Gulbraa will be working in our kitchen, and Mr. Bergquist will be working as an EA in our SAIL room.
Grade 10 students, their parents/guardians, and all of our teachers will have an opportunity to provide their voices by participating in the Alberta Education Assurance Survey. Parents/guardians of Grade 10 students will receive a survey code in the mail. This survey points us to areas of improvement for our school as well as areas to celebrate success. We use this important survey for our long-term planning so thank you for completing it.
Students should see their grade level administrator in the office as soon as possible if they need to make any changes to their Semester 2 timetables. Grade 12 students, check your MyPass accounts to ensure that you are on a pathway to meet credential requirements to achieve a high school diploma.
Please contact us if you have questions.

Basketball
Our basketball teams had a quick couple of weeks to complete before they took a break before exams, our sr. teams took the most of their opportunity to play though. Both teams played in the Holy Rosary invitational in Lloydminster the first weekend and January. Our senior girls had a couple of good games before losing a close bronze medal game. The senior boys continued their winning ways into the New Year defeating all 3 teams they faced on their way to the championship. That’s their second tournament of the year. Our senior girls are currently a provincial honourable mention and our boys team is the number 4 team in the province.
Both our junior teams had tournaments in early January. The girls team played in a senior tournament in Sedgewick where they certainly held their own. Our boys played in a tournament in Ft. Saskatchewan and won their first game, but weren’t able to finish the tournament do to weather conditions.
Weather also played a factor in cancelling our grade 9 tournament. The teams were able to start their league games however and both grade 9 teams have started with three wins and zero losses.
February is a busy month for all 6 of our basketball teams. League games and tournaments all leading up to playoffs that start at the end of the month.
Curling
Our curling boys and girls team are off to Areas on February 7th in Wainwright. Their zone tournament will be held later in the month where they will have a shot at competing at provincials at the end of February.
Sponsorship
We would like to thank Edge Orthodontics as a new Trojan Athletic sponsor.
