April 2025 Newsletter
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
"Our Imagine Shared Values are what distinguishes us from the other schools!"
— Mrs. Day, Principal
Shared Values Set Us Apart!
Shared values are at the heart of who we want to be at Imagine Madison Avenue School of Arts. Three particular values guide our work as an organization: Justice. Integrity. Fun.
JUSTICE
Justice requires doing all in our power to ensure that every Imagine student has access to an outstanding education. We design our instruction based on the needs of each individual student and our lessons are differentiated accordingly.
INTEGRITY
Integrity means always thinking about the whole child and not just focusing on Academics as we understand that many variables go into educating students and making them all a successful part of the whole school community.
FUN
We believe that all stakeholders are important at Imagine Schools and we value the contributions of all. Decisions are made by students, staff, and families. For example, students have a chance to provide feedback through our student surveys and they can also offer their opinions in a lunch menu review as we start preparing for the 2025-26 school year.
Here are two ways you can also share your thoughts:
FAMILY SURVEY
The Imagine Family Survey runs until May 2nd. (Students have their own version that also runs until May 2nd.) The surveys are anonymous. We’d like to know what you think about our school and how we can improve. We are seeking input about curriculum, leadership, character education, parent support, student learning, school safety, and our building. We appreciate the time you spend giving us this valuable feedback.
The Family survey is accessed online at https://imagineschools.questionpro.com/familysurvey. Families will then need to select the State and our School to get started.
SCHOOL WELLNESS PLAN REVIEW
Thursday, April 3, 2025, 4:30 pm in the Library
We are seeking parent input as we review and update our School Wellness Plan. We invite you to come and be a part of that process. Your input is important!
STATE ASSESSMENT TESTING
State assessment testing starts in third grade and continues throughout the rest of the scholar’s academic career. Subject knowledge is critical, of course, but so are test taking skills! Your scholar will rely on them throughout their lives for college admission tests to professional tests given in various fields in our workforce.
We work on approaching the tests with a positive attitude and building our scholar's confidence by working on practice sites during our instructional time. Every student will start the testing days with a hot breakfast to fuel our scholar's brains!
UPCOMING STATE ASSESSMENT TESTING DATES:
April 1-4: 3-6th Grade State ELA Assessment Testing
April 8-11: 3-6th Grade State Math Assessment Testing
May 6-9: 4th-5th Grade State Science/Social Studies Assessment Testing
WHAT ARE GOOD TEST-TAKING STRATEGIES?
Reframe Your Thinking! Always believe in yourself and tell yourself, “I can do it and I am ready for this test!”
Plug It In! Use each one of the multiple-choice answers to fill in the blank. Some will not make sense and this will help you narrow down your answers.
Jail The Detail! Circle or underline the key details in a test question.
Stash The Trash! Cross out any unnecessary information, including answer choices that you already know don’t belong.
Zap The Map! Pay attention to the key part of a chart graph or map.
Pace Yourself! Take your time while watching the clock to make sure that you are not moving too slow.
How Families Can Help
- Your partnership is critical. Please make attendance on testing dates a priority.
- Help them be at their best for the test by getting enough sleep the night before school and State assessments.
- Offer encouragement! Positive attitudes foster positive results!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE! RE-ENROLL TODAY!
Re-Enroll Today!
We officially began the re-enrollment process with information sent home on February 10th. Because of the limited number of seats available at the school, we need to know which students will be returning for next year and if we need to save a seat for any siblings who are not currently enrolled.
Please complete the re-enrollment process online on Final Forms at https://madisonavenue-oh.finalforms.com/ by March 16th. Please complete the sibling portion of that form if you will have a new child joining us next school year.

This program aims to provide emergency food assistance to children and families directly at Madison Avenue School of Arts. The School Pantry Program offers a more empowering choice model, ensuring families receive the support they need without having to leave the school environment. Our goal remains steadfast: to alleviate hunger and support the well-being of children across Northwest Ohio.
If you are interested in shopping at our Newly Opened Harvest Market, please contact the school for an appointment at 419-259-4000. Remember a visit to the Harvest Market is completely confidential and located within an area that is private in the school building.

A FINAL NOTE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I recently read a quote by an unknown author that captured my attention. I would like to share it with you here. "April is a reminder that something better is always around the corner." Not just better weather, but better times to enjoy with your children like a picnic, reading together, a walk around the neighborhood, or just a quiet talk. Now is the time to start your list of summer things to do even close to home. Don't forget to ask for suggestions from your children. Our best wishes for a happy, healthy spring.
Darlene M. Burke, Board President
