Class of 2025 - September FAQ's
I hope your list of colleges is finalized and you are making progress with the application(s). If you haven't yet talked with teachers about letters of rec, added your counselor to the Common Application or confirmed your application dates, check those tasks off ASAP. Attend makeup Senior Seminar lessons at 8:15 on 9/12 or 9/19 or after school on 9/16 to catch up on some tasks or just ask general questions. My review video also talks you through content content discussed at each Senior Seminar meeting.
Should I send my test scores?
This is a personal decision that you must make for each campus you are applying to this fall. Check out this flowchart to help with decisions, and make sure that your test score will be an additional support to your application(s). When considering whether to send or not, start with a search for 'College Name Admitted Student Profile' to get a sense of scores that recently admitted students shared in last year's application cycle.
What is an Honors College?
An honors college is a program at a college or university that provides an enriched curriculum for academically eligible students. Honors college participation does not mean MORE work in college; it means MORE ENRICHING work in college. Honors students may benefit from smaller classes, priority class registration, research opportunities, mentorship, scholarships, honors specific housing and more.
When should I apply? Early action is the recommended admission plan whenever it is a manageable option. Planning to submit all applications by 11/1 is an attainable goal if you are spending some time each week completing tasks related to your apps. If you are ready to apply sooner than this date, go for it! If you plan to wait on some regular decision deadlines, that is fine, too. Progress is the goal, and you are in charge of your deadlines. Just meet all posted deadlines; late work is not accepted!
Do I need to wait for my counselor and/or teacher letters of rec to be uploaded before I apply? NO! If you are ready to submit your application to a college, you do not have to wait on recommenders to upload their materials before you apply. Click submit, celebrate and trust that all of your materials will meet in cyberspace by your noted deadline(s).
When should I work on my essay? Now! Try to have a draft, no matter how messy, saved by September 23rd. If you are stuck, press record on your voice recorder and record the story that you want to tell; go back and type your words! Progress, not perfection....get started, share your work and review CRC writing resources and give yourself time to polish the final draft while also remembering supplemental writing requirements!
Should I add something to the Additional Information section of my application(s)? If you have earned C's or D's, especially in sophomore or junior classes, it is helpful to share a brief statement explaining why in this space. You do not have to overshare personal insights, but it helps the admission team understand your academic history to hear simple facts from you here. If you have something to share that is not otherwise addressed in the application, academic focused or not, this is an appropriate space to inform the reader of your story. Ms. Murphy and the CRC team can review your additional information statement and help with related questions.
Class of 2026 Resources & Reminders

- Consider your wellness; eat well, sleep well, be well.
- Review SchooLinks onboarding information (emailed earlier this month to all juniors) and explore colleges, careers and more in the platform.

REP VISIT REMINDER
College, Military and Career reps visit our campus to meet YOU, share information about admissions, campus life, career pathways and more, and we encourage EVERY junior and senior to attend at least three visits this fall. Pick a school, military branch or career topic that you are familiar with, one that is new to you and one more of interest and show up ready to learn about the variety of options available to you after high school!
You can access the visit/registration calendar at anytime, regular reminders will be shared in your google classroom, and notes from each visit will be posted to your google classroom and to our College Guide 2024. Visits run through the end of October and take place in the CRC unless otherwise noted.
Remember to always let your teacher know ahead of an absence that you are attending a rep visit and that you are responsible for any missed work in class. CRC staff will note your attendance at each visit.
