I can't believe we just finished our 3rd week of school! Our scholars have taken their 3 weeks assessments, and progress reports were submitted on Friday. To access the progress reports, please log into Skyward. We do have after-school tutoring happening already. We offer tutoring from 3:30 - 4:30. Please touch base with your scholar's teachers for specific dates per content. We do offer after-school transportation to those who qualify.

At this time, I invite you to check your child's attendance and make sure it is correct. If there are any absences that need to be corrected, make sure you email our attendance clerk, Mrs. Rueda at krueda@sisd.net.

Counselor Updates

On Monday, August 26th, ALL students will engage in the Fall Self-Assessment to gauge where they are with their Social-Emotional learning. This guides our counseling and SEL lessons for the year, so it's extremely important to us! To reach 100% completion, we will be adjusting our Advisory schedule next week. We will have two days for testing (Monday and Tuesday) and no official day for organization. After students finish their assessment, however, they may focus on organization. Thank you for your support.

Attendance

Thank you parents for bringing your students to the Ranch every day and on time! I understand that there was a wave of Covid, Flu and Colds going around these last 2 weeks. I ask that you keep your child home if they do not feel well and have a fever. However, make sure you email us so that we can excuse their absence. You may email any doctor's notes to our attendance office: attendanceclarke@sisd.net, or you can now upload notes through Skyward, see directions below:

Skyward Family Access – Parent Absence Entry

You can notify your student's attendance office about an absence using the online Parent Absence Request feature via Family Access using a computer or your mobile APP. You can download the Skyward App through the mobile App Store.

1. Login to Skyward Family Access

1. Click on the Attendance tile for the student you are reporting an absence

1. Click on the Absence Requests Tab

1. Click Add Absence Request on the right side of the screen
   
2. Enter the Start Date and End Date

1. Entire Day: Check All Day if the absence will be an entire day
   Partial Day: Enter a Start Time and End Time of absence

1. Select an Attendance Reason from the drop-down menu

1. Add a Comment to provide information about the absence

1. Select Save in the upper left-hand corner
   

Once saved, the absence request will be sent to the school’s attendance for processing. After approval by the school, the request will change from Pending to Processed. Changes to the absence can be made by the parent/guardian in Skyward while it is still marked as pending. Once the request is processed, a parent/guardian will need to contact the school to make any changes.

Nurse:

Parents, please check with our school nurse if you believe your child is om our list of Non-Compliant on Immunizations. We will be making an all call this week to those on the list, please make sure to get proper documentation to nurse to avoid your child being dropped from school. Thank you.

Cafeteria

Please see attachment below for this week's menu. Also, parents please help us with participation. We are currently one of the few schools that participates in free breakfast and lunch. If we do not meet our numbers, our program can be taken away or changed. If you would like to provide us with ideas on how to improve services, and preferred meal items, email llopez01@sisd.net. Please be advised that our lunch ladies do take suggestions. We have already made some changes based on what students have told me these 3 weeks.
