The Patriot Update (1.8)
A Revere High School Community Newsletter

Sunday November 27th, 2022
Volume 1, Issue 8
Happy Sunday, Patriots!
I hope everyone was able to take some time over this holiday weekend to unwind and unplug with people they care about. The next four weeks leading up to the Winter Vacation on 12/23 is a busy stretch of uninterrupted learning time, which gives students a great opportunity to set some goals in their courses and work toward meeting them! Teachers, guardians and counselors should use this time to be in contact about student performance so that every student can get the support they need to put in their best effort. It is very important for students to attend every day of school they are healthy and able to attend, especially during this time of year. It is very challenging for students to learn the material they miss when they are absent from class. This is especially important as we approach the end of the semester and the courses end.
As a reminder to guardians and students - for semester classes, the grade that shows on the transcript is the final course grade (S1). Students have had a Q1 Progress Report, a Q1 Report Card and soon (12/9) will have a Q2 Progress Report. This information, together with the PowerSchool Parent Portal and regular communication between home and school, should set students up to know exactly where they stand in their courses. If you need help accessing Parent Portal, please reach out to our Family Liaisons (Sue Goncalves: Grade 9/11 and Sandra Figueroa: Grade 10/12).
This week's memo is brief but includes some important updates exciting opportunities for our students. The update includes the following sections:

Looking Ahead the Next Two Weeks: 11/28 - 12/9
- Winter Sports Tryouts: Tryouts begin Monday 11/28. See the schedule below in the Athletics Roundup!
- Charge for Replacement Student IDs. This is a reminder to students that beginning Monday 11/28, students who need a replacement student ID will be charged a $3 fee to their student account. This had been practice at RHS prior to the COVID Pandemic. It is important that students have their IDs on them to enter the building, but reprinting these IDs costs. All students who need a new ID have received multiple opportunities to get them without charge this year. Students need to have their ID on them at all times.
- Annual Ugly Sweater Coats for Kids Holiday Party: The 7th Annual Coats for Kids Ugly Sweater Party @ DRYFT in Revere will be on 12/8 from 6-9pm. All donations and proceeds from this event will go towards fulfilling the lists of coats needed for students and families from every school in RPS. Please send questions to RHS School Resource Officer Joe Singer (jsinger@reverek12.org).
- Quarter 2 Progress Reports: On Friday 12/9, we will send home Progress Reports for Quarter 2 (via email/parent portal). This will mark the half-way point through Quarter 2.
