Principal Message
Good Afternoon, OMS Families,
We loved the blue sky and sunshine this week as we welcomed students back from break, unfortunately, the temperatures weren't as nice. The car line has been very busy the past few days. Thank you for your patience with our staff and each other. Did you know we can squeeze 17 cars in at a time if everyone pulls all the way forward in the loading zone lane?
Have a great weekend! The next two weeks are going to fly by!
Erin, Julia, and the OMS Staff
Winter Clothing and Bag
Now that the cold weather is officially upon us, please make sure to send students to school with hats, gloves/mittens and scarves daily. Boots and snowpants should be sent when snow or super cold temperatures are forecasted. We are outside if the windchill is above 0 degrees.
Additionally, to help keep everyone organized, and our lost and found from overflowing - please send winter items in a separate bag. Our classrooms have hooks for coats and backpacks but hats, mittens, scarves usually end up on the floor or in a pile. To help control the chaos, we ask that each child have an extra bag on their classroom hooks to place these items. Also, label, label, label!

Science Club - Winter Sessions
Science Club is back with three sessions, meeting on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, January 14 through February 26. We’re offering hands-on science adventures for students in grades two through five; first grade students may participate if an older sibling is enrolled in Science Club AND an adult can volunteer to help every day that the first grade student attends.
We meet from 3:35 until 4:45 PM in the LMC.
Session 1: Analog Adventures (three weeks)
Experiment with classical methods of communication, learn how to calculate with a slide rule, use a simple lever to accurately weigh objects and more.
Session 2: Material Detectives (two weeks)
Identify metals and polymers with physical and chemical tests.
Session 3: Molecular Models (two weeks)
Build models of familiar molecules using Happy Atoms, Molymod, framework, and antique space-filling systems.
Want to join in the fun? Then complete and return the registration form as soon as possible. Sessions can fill up very quickly. The number of students per session is dependent on the number of adult volunteers.
To ensure that we’re able to provide a safe and enjoyable activity at least two adults will be present each day. Any days that do not have at least one adult volunteer will be cancelled. Please consider signing up to help on one or more days as your schedule allows.
