NEWS FROM THE TRAIL!!!
24th Edition of the 24-25 school year!!!
From the Desk of Dr. McCowan!!
Ranger Nation,
As we wrap up another excellent week of learning and engagement at Chisholm Trail High School, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for our incredible students, supportive families, and dedicated community members. Your commitment to education and involvement in our school makes a tremendous difference, and we are so proud of the hard work and achievements we see each day.
As we enter the last couple of weeks of the 4th six weeks and move into February, I encourage all students to remain focused on their academics and continue meeting the high expectations we set both behaviorally and instructionally. This time of year is filled with important milestones, including testing and a variety of extracurricular activities. It is essential that students make good choices, follow school rules, and stay engaged in their learning to finish this grading period strong.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we will ensure that Chisholm Trail remains a place where every Ranger thrives. Let’s keep pushing forward and making every day count!
Wishing you all a safe and blessed weekend! #CTogether, Rangers...Ride!!!

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC INFORMATION!!!
Several road closures are scheduled to begin next week that will impact travel times and routes within our community:
East Bailey Boswell Road between Comanche Springs Drive and Sassafras Street is scheduled to be closed from January 19 through January 22. This a project of BNSF Railroad to repair areas around the railroad tracks.
Cromwell Marine Creek Road between Bowman Roberts Road and Cascade Canyon Trail is scheduled to be closed from January 21 through January 29. This is a City of Fort Worth project for road expansion and improvements.
Our Transportation Department is working on alternative bus routes to minimize delays caused by these closures. However, please be aware that there could still be some additional delays due to detours and increased traffic along alternative routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We also encourage families to make note of these closures so you can plan alternate routes and allow for extra time to ensure timely arrivals and departures.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Week 22
Monday:
- The state of Texas has designated this week as Holocaust Remembrance Week. This week we will be taking a moment each day to discuss the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the systematic murdering of over 11,000,000 people - mostly people considered “undesirable” in some way by the German government, which was led by the Nazi party. The Holocaust lasted for 12 years under this Nazi regime. The purpose of the week remembrance this week is to create a sense of understanding and responsibility in the face of adverse events. The goal is for all of us to recognize and uphold human value, in order to prevent future atrocities.
Tuesday:
- Attention Senior: Spanish Honor Society will be holding a mandatory meeting this Thursday January 30th before and after school in room 305.

Use the QR code to preorder and you can pay online, or you can bring cash for the exact amount to room 810, Ms. Ritz' Floral Design Classroom. Preorder arrangements will be available to pick up in room 810 February 12th. Individual stems and a few arrangements will be available to purchase with cash at all three lunches February 12th and 13th.
- Hey everyone, we'd like you to join the Fiber Craft Club in order to create goods for the "warm up America'' Foundation. An interest meeting will be held on the 30th of January in room 723. We meet every Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Come join us in being the fabric of the school!!

- The Rangers are in first place in district 5-5A and have a big game against Aledo on Tuesday, January 28th. We want as many students out as possible. The first 30 students to arrive at the varsity game will receive a ticket for free hot chocolate!
- 11 million is a staggering amount of people to die just because they were thought to be inferior in some way. In a few instances, some escaped but most did not. To get a visual of the survivors, think about attending a football game. The stadium is full, then something happens, and the only people left are the very first row in the bleachers. Everyone else has been wiped out. That’s what happened during this time. What’s in a number? Think about your phone number, your school ID number, your social security number. If you were only identified by that number alone, would anyone know you or your story? The victims of the Holocaust were given identifying numbers that were tattooed on their arms. The people just became a number - no face, no name. It must have been much easier for people to carry out the law to murder people because these were just numbers. When possible, learn people’s name without judgement - when we all really look at and learn about one another, people begin to matter to us and that is important.
Wednesday:
- Attention Seniors: Spanish Honor Society will be holding a mandatory meeting tomorrow Thursday before and after school in room 305.

- Just because something happened, does not mean it had to happen. The Holocaust took place` because individuals, groups, and countries made decisions to act or not to act. Ask yourself, “Have
you ever experienced a situation that turned out badly and you wish you could have changed the outcome?”. The horrible events of the Holocaust cause everyone to ponder, how it went so far. Historians have discussed those that chose to take action to help stop the event (upstanders) and those who just ignored the events because they believed they could not make change happen (bystanders). Upstanders are those people who worked hard to stop the atrocities of the Holocaust. By hearing and honoring the stories of those who took risks, large and small, on behalf of others, we might better find within ourselves the desire to be “someone who helps” and to act with caring toward others when circumstances require. When confronted with an opportunity to step in and make positive change, choose to be an Upstander - this way you may change the outcome of a potentially bad situation.
Thursday:
- Seniors: If you were not able to attend the Spanish Honor Society mandatory meeting this morning don't forget that you can attend after school today in room 305.
- CTHS's 10th Musical Cinderella opens TODAY and runs through February 1st. You can find posters in the hall with the ticket QR code.

The contest ends January 31st! See posters for your class's station!
- Yesterday we talked about being an upstander and what that means. During the Holocaust, there were many brave upstanders. In fact, several of them lived in North Texas. One of those Upstanders was, Irena Sendler. Irena was a social worker who lived in Poland during the Holocaust. She smuggled many children out of one of the areas that the prisoners were forced to live in. Irena’s extreme bravery saved many children from certain death. Many people world-wide chose to be an
Upstander. One was named Oskar Schindler. Oskar owned factories in Poland. He employed some of the people that were considered not good enough by the government in his factories and told authorities they could not be killed because they were being used to make the supplies that the Nazi army needed. By taking this stand Oskar Schindler saved over 1200 people from certain death. You may never be in a history book because of your bravery or kindness but that does not mean you shouldn’t choose Upstanding when given a chance. Even if you only make the difference in one person’s life - you still made a difference. That person will be changed and impacted because of you and your actions. Choose to be an Upstander.
Friday:

- Well Rangers, we officially have the best wrestling team in EMS-ISD! Both the boys and the girls wrestling teams went undefeated in last night's EMS-ISD Duals, defeating Boswell, Eagle Mountain, and Saginaw handedly. The program looks to sustain the momentum going into the district tournament next week at Azle. Congratulations to our wrestling team!
- This week we have taken the time to remember the Holocaust. We learned what it was, who was affected, and how it could have been avoided. You have also been challenged to make a difference in the world by choosing to be an Upstander. You, no matter how old, where you come from or where you are going - can be an agent of change. It can be a small act of trying to make a difference or you can be a huge difference maker. Either way you make the choice - Will you stand to the side or stand up? If you want to make the world a better place, you can. One action at a time.
