Dear Nob Hill Parents,
The past few weeks at Nob Hill have been busy with both academic achievements and moments of fun! We recently celebrated our honor roll students, recognizing their hard work and dedication, and right before Thanksgiving break, our students enjoyed an exciting Field Day. The day was filled with joy and teamwork as they participated in activities like the egg race, obstacle courses, hula hoop pass, and cup stacking challenge. It was wonderful to see so much laughter and camaraderie!
December is shaping up to be just as exciting, with many events on the calendar! Don’t miss the PTA Winter Store from December 9–13, Family Night on December 11, and our Winter Show on December 17.
Stay connected with everything happening at Nob Hill by checking out the e-mail titled Weekly E-News. I send these every Sunday afternoon to keep you informed about the latest events at our school. If you’re not already receiving these messages, please email me at Susana.cruz@browardschools.com to be added to our mailing list.
As we enter the holiday season, I want to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. May this festive time bring joy, warmth, and special moments with your loved ones.
Thank you for being such an essential part of our Nob Hill community. Your ongoing support means the world to us.
Sincerely,

In math we are learning about extending the counting sequence up to 120. In science we are learning about the sun and materials on the earth's surface. 2nd grade is a merry place to be around this time of year! For reading, we are in the midst of unit 4 with getting to know different character perspectives and still working hard on those story elements. For math, we are starting Topic 7 and putting those subtraction and addition skills to the test in different word problems. We have winter holidays coming up, so please keep an eye out if your teacher sends home a list for donations to the festivities in our classes. These wouldn't be possible without your support! Also keep an eye out for a January field trip to come around, stay tuned for more!
3rd
As we embark on the final month of 2024, 3rd grade is excited to end the year with a bang! December will be packed with a lot of fun and educational activities! We will have our first field trip of the year on Friday, December 13th to the Coral Springs Center for the Arts to see The Nutcracker Ballet. In math, students will learn about adding multi-digit whole numbers. In science, students will finish up learning about light and heat and will begin learning about friction. In reading, students will practice identifying different characters’ perspectives in literary texts and how characters develop through the plot. In social studies, they will learn how human settlement is influenced by the environment and will also begin learning about economics and how scarcity can affect trade opportunities for buyers and sellers. Students will take the 2nd iReady Diagnostic assessments for reading and math in December. We will use the data from this assessment (along with the FAST PM2 results in January) to identify areas of growth and areas for improvement and we will share this information with parents as soon as possible.

4th grade is looking forward to a great holiday season! We will be taking the second I-Ready Diagnostic assessment in the beginning of the month. Our hard-working nuggets are going to make us proud! Students will be reading a variety of fictional stories told from different points of view and perspectives. We are also reading selections from several informational texts, diving into the early history of Florida. In Science, we will be researching, making observations, gathering information, and recording data in our exploration of Earth’s Movements. Please continue to support our students by helping them meet their weekly I-Ready Goals. Wising all of our students and families a safe and joyful holiday season, and looking forward to a new year of learning and growth.

Hello parents,
Thank you so much to all the parents that volunteered for our Field Day. We truly appreciate your support.
We would like to remind you guys that it’s important for your child to be present every day. With our rotation schedule, if they are late or picked up early, they will be missing a lot of information.
In math, our students will be working on finding points on a coordinate grid as well as adding and subtracting fractions. Please check your student’s folder as students now have Pick-a-Project for each unit.
In ELA our students will be working on informational text standards like finding central ideas, author’s perspective and claim, and comparing and contrasting multiple texts on the same topic. They will be using informational text centered around our Constitution.
In science, we will be finishing up our unit on electricity and starting to learn about force and motion. Please be on the lookout for a letter from Ms. Ardo for some items needed for our next science activity.
All spots for our Islands of Adventure trip are filled. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding the final payment.
