Francis A. Desmares School - June 2024
A Note From Mr. Masessa and Mrs. Custy
Dear Desmares Families,
In our final newsletter for the 2023-2024 school year, we want to thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration. Desmares School is a very special place where many families and cultures blend to form a community that mirrors our society. We are preparing our students to be productive citizens each and every day. Through your efforts as parents, and the efforts of our teachers, we are instilling values and a work ethic that will one day make our students contributors to the Flemington-Raritan community and beyond. Your generosity at school functions enabled us to provide many enriching experiences for the students. Now that June is finally here, we can see the fruits of our efforts. Students are maturing and demonstrating they are ready to move on up to the next grade level.
However, we are not done yet! We have many classroom and schoolwide events scheduled throughout June. Please pay close attention to your teacher newsletters and review the list of fun events below. Last call for book donations! We are partnering with the Desmares PTO to collect gently used children's books for students in Pre-K through fourth grade for a book swap event on June 17th. All of our Desmares Dolphins will visit the book swap to do some "shopping" and select some books to read over the summer. Donations of children's books in good condition can be dropped of at Desmares School or sent in with your child in a bag labeled "Book Swap Donations." We are very proud of our Desmares Dolphins. During these 167 days, they tried their best, worked hard, made friends, and maintained the demands of the school. Now, it’s time to prepare for the Summer! Here are some activities we suggested for the summer months.

Library News
As we wrap up the year, it's a great time to look back on all your students have accomplished. Students have used their time in library class to build their research abilities, become more independent in finding information and books in the library, create connections to classroom curriculum, and building their social/emotional skills.
Summer is a great time to keep that momentum going by encouraging your child to read every day. The Hunterdon County Library offers many resources for families to build on those skills they learned throughout the school year. Their Summer Reading Program offers students a chance to earn prizes through reading. There is an online option or register in person! Additionally, there will be programs for all ages all summer long including art workshops, magic shows, science programs and much more!
