Elizabeth Stone Fund Scholarship
Notice to those with family members or friends heading to college. Applications are now available for the Elizabeth Stone Fund Scholarship, a one-time award for expenses associated with freshman year at an accredited four-year institution of higher learning. The Elizabeth Stone Fund was formed with a bequest from the estate of Elizabeth Stone for the purpose of establishing a scholarship fund for deserving high school graduates who are residents of Jamestown, and are graduating seniors at an accredited public, private, parochial, vocational or charter high-school; or completing a home school program approved by the Jamestown School Committee. This year $6,000 in scholarships may be awarded to multiple candidates. Winners are selected by the Jamestown School Committee Scholarship Panel. Deadline is April 1, 2025.

As the weather is getting warmer and students are more active outside here are some resources you may want to use with your child to discuss hygiene. Starting in 5th grade, the students learn more about body changes and hygiene, but you may want to discuss things like showering daily, deodorant, etc. at a younger age or as a refresher as they get older.
Always Changing and Growing Up from Proctor and Gamble is a video you can find free online for boys, girls, and co-ed.
Kidshealth.org has great information aimed at teens.
American Girl has some great books for different ages and genders.
Hygiene can be a sensitive subject, but it is important to start teaching children early in order to establish lifelong habits and promote good health and self-esteem. If you choose to share these resources with your child, it's recommended you preview them so that you can make sure they are getting the most helpful information for their age.
