The Weekly Update #4
November 11th, 2024
LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU SEE IT!
WEEK 13
I can't believe how fast this week has gone. This week we celebrated Veterans Day. As you will see in this newsletter it was an amazing success!! We had numerous people involved in the planning and execution of this program. I was probably most excited at the way the student body embraced this event. As I looked around the Laughlin Center everyone was engaged in the program and had the utmost respect for what was being said and who was being honored. When given instructions on exiting they did it flawlessly and never had to be given any other instruction. We truly do have the best kids! Thank you parents for what you pour into your children every day.
ICC
The Indiana College Core (ICC) is a block of 30 credit hours that can be applied to any Indiana Public College. Although sophomores cannot take any specific ICC classes, Spanish 1 and 2 are prerequisite courses for Spanish 3, which is an ICC course. As a freshman and sophomore, you could also be collecting college credits to add to your total credits to potentially earn an Associate’s Degree (60 total credit hours)! As a junior, there are a series of classes that you will take to prepare you for the ICC. Please make sure to indicate to your counselor if this is the route you are wanting to take. Even if you are a junior, it is not too late to get your ICC! Talk with your counselors and Mr. Bottomley to look at your schedule and get a plan in place! Mr. Bottomley is at RCHS every Monday!
GREATNESS FROM STAFF AND STUDENTS
Veterans Day Breakfast and Program
Many people joined together to put together an amazing celebration for our Armed Forces Veterans on Monday. The Student Council with some help from Key Club, fed breakfast to all of the veterans and their families. During breakfast student counsel members put on a small program that included a song by our unbelievable choir and the playing of taps. The honor walk is always an amazing thing to see. The veterans walk the halls of RCHS as the students line the hallways cheering for them and thanking them for their service. It was then off to the Laughlin Center for a program designed by Ms. McDermott. She spoke with grace about the meaning of Veterans Day, played a clip celebrating veterans, had a song by our choir, a guest speaker, and finally taps played by Isaac Krodel. The entire student body was present and were all completely engaged in the program. It was an amazing way to start the week and thanking all veterans for their service. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this breakfast and program.
CLASS OF 2025 GRADUATES
Some of our students take an untraditional approach to graduation. We are now starting to see the hard work paying off for some of our students in our Opportunity School Program! I wanted to highlight a couple of our recent graduates who have finished up everything they need to graduate with the 2025 cohort!!

Business Class
I love watching skills being taught that everyone will need when they leave High School. Mrs. Personett was teaching how to fill out and deposit checks to her students. Although a lot of banking is done online now this is still a needed skill.
