SPECIAL EDITION NOV 15TH
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
I’m sure you have all heard at one time or another, this heartfelt saying,
“There’s No Place Like Home”. Whether your home is faraway, next door, or just
in your heart, you are always happy to return to your home.
Dorothy, in the Wizard of Oz, believed that if she clicked her red magic shoes
together, she would return to Kansas, her home. This is where our title originated
and as to how it made a connection with our scholars.
Well, our seven International Teacher Education Scholars are far away from
their homes, as each have journeyed their yellow brick roads to come to our
country. Their hopes and desires being to get a better understanding of our
educational programs here in the United States, while pursuing a Masters Degree
in their chosen field. The sacrifices they make while being away from their homes
and families, is to take back with them, what they have learned, to improve the
educational programs in their countries.
Thanks to our ITE Scholarship Program through Alpha Delta Kappa, we can
give scholarships to young ladies from all over the world to help achieve this
dream. This year we have scholars from; Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Austria, Thailand
and our returning scholars from Indonesia, India and Estonia. Universities they
are attending are; Georgetown, University of Massachusetts, University of
Washington, Ohio State University, M.I.T. and the University of Minnesota. So
whether their homes are in a faraway land or on the campus of these great
universities, each scholar is anxiously awaiting to return “home”.
You, our Alpha Delta Kappa sisters, have been personally invited to meet each
of our scholars; Ambika, Vafa, Nesrin, Dona, Darmini, Anu and Janett through
our ITE Webinar, Saturday, January 14, 2023,4:00 EST.
The first-year scholars will open their doors to each of you, and tell you about
their countries, customs, families, education and so much more. Our second-year
scholars will open their doors as well, to the academic research at the universities
they have chosen, as well as their personal aspirations as they complete their
master’s degrees. You will personally hear what they hope to do upon returning to
their countries and the appreciation they have for the ITE Scholarship
What a wonderful opportunity for you to meet our amazing scholars and to
learn about their countries, as well as their families, customs and education, as
well as the different foods of each country, without ever having to leave your home.
Please mark your calendars now for January 14 th and the “There’s No Place
Like Home”, ITE Webinar. Information can be found on our ADK website,
Connect, and Facebook.
