We are hosting three different Ohio Writing Project workshops. You can register for just one, or you can register for all three.

Workshop Summary:

Every day students are surrounded by a flood of information and teaching students to think critically about what they read is more and more imperative. Join OWP for a half-day session focused on teaching information literacy. Participants will explore the role of information literacy and practice strategies for evaluating media through the SIFT method.

In a world that is global in so many ways, our local place is powerful in how it shapes and influences our views and interactions. Join OWP in a half-day workshop that looks at the connection between place-based teaching and learning. Participants will practice strategies for writing about place, using place as inspiration for research and connecting nature and writing.

Workshop Summary:

As argument and analysis writing instruction grows, students' use of source material also grows. But, with growth comes struggle. Students may be able to find a quote from a source, but how do we help them choose relevant evidence, elaborate on source material and cite it for credibility. Join OWP in this one day workshop focused on using sources. Participants will leave the day with strategies to teach students to do more than add a quote - they’ll learn how to use them to strengthen writing.
