3. Maximize Your Impact with Arizona Tax Credits - We Need Your Help!
6 weeks until April 15th!
Your state taxes can make a direct difference at Sam Hughes Elementary! Our school relies on support from Arizona public school tax credits to pay for essential programs like music, art, physical education, gardening, ecology, reading tutors, and enrichment opportunities!
Do you typically get a tax refund? Do you pay taxes in the state of Arizona? Or do you typically owe each year in taxes? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you can make a tax-credit contribution up until April 15, 2024! The Public School Tax Credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your tax liability (what you owe). That means your tax money goes right into our school directly. As long as your total liability (what you owe or have already paid through paycheck withholding) is larger than the credit you claim (what you give to the school via Tax Credits), you will receive the full amount back in your Arizona state tax return.
- Deadline for Contributions: April 15, 2024
- Contribute: Sam Hughes Tax Credit
- Make a Payment: AZ Tax Payment
Guess what else? Any friends or family members that pay taxes in Arizona can ALSO make a refundable contribution to Sam Hughes too!
Got questions? Weβre here to help. Contact samhughespta@gmail.com or visit the front office.

Families- we need your help!
CREW we need your help with students getting picked up early at the end of the day. There are many transitions that occur in the last 10-15 minutes of our instructional day and it can be challenging the the front office to make contact with classroom teachers as they are concluding their time with their classes.
If you need to pick up your student early, please make arrangements to come prior to 2:35pm so that we are readily able to call for your student with minimal disruption to the class' end of day procedures.
Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
Reminders!
Refillable Water Bottles are Needed for Students Each Day
Thank you for sending a refillable water bottle with your student each day. Water fountains are available for students to refill their water bottles as needed. We are encouraging students to stay well hydrated, especially with the temperatures as high as they have been.
Please be sure your student's name is clearly labeled on the bottle, thank you!
PTA Meetings!
Sam Hughes PTA has a new board this year -- with Rose Hagood as President, Raquel Salgado as Vice President, Elizabeth McDonnell as Treasurer and Olivia Alicea as Secretary!
Come to a PTA Meeting!
The Sam Hughes PTA meets about once a month at 6:00 pm in the courtyard or library, depending on weather. It's a great way to meet other parents and stay on top of everything happening at school. Kiddos are welcome to come along! At meetings we plan events and keep everyone up to date on the latest news. Families are encouraged to give feedback and ask questions.
