The 2026 International Educational and Cultural Trip will be to PERU!
This amazing 10 day trip will be from March 26-April 4, 2026!
Students will explore famous historic sites, such as Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World that is located high up in the Andes mountains. Students will stand in the spot so many of us have seen in photos!
Students will discover the rich heritage and diversity of different cultures, such as cruising to Uros Islands in Lake Titicaca and meeting with the indigenous people who live on them. We will experience the places we've studied in class or watched in movies, such as our stop in Cuzco, the setting for the Walt Disney movie "Emperors New Groove". Students will also explore the capital city of Lima and learn about the Spanish heritage brought when Pizzara conquered the Inca.
Speaking of the Inca, students will tour numerous Inca archeological sites along the way as well, such as Huaca Huallamarca archeological site and Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Plus, students will visit a local ceramics market and a wildlife sanctuary!
These are just a few of the fantastic places that we see on this trip!
Any student who attends Marion L. Steele High School may enroll in this amazing tour!

Senior Yearbook Portrait Information
Yearbook pose selections are due December 6th, and you can make this choice a couple of ways. The easiest way is to use the order form on the proof sheet. Mark down your yearbook pose selection, make your ordering and payment choices, and turn the order form into the office.
You can also order online, and if you order just one pose online by December 6th, we will assume that is the yearbook pose you want. However, retouching is NOT done to any prints that you order online, only the file sent to the yearbook will be retouched. If you want FREE basic retouching to prints, you must order through the paper form.
Please contact brian_rubinski@amherstk12.org for any yearbook questions, and contact Studio Q with any ordering questions at info@studioqinc.com.
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found at Steele is filling up fast! Please have your child check the table behind Mrs. Deulley's desk for any missing items. All remaining items will be donated to charity over Winter Break if not claimed.
Department Updates: Science Department
Mr. Kiddey
Honors Chemistry students learned how electron behavior in an atom produces different colors of light. Students observed this through flame testing different metal ions and calculating the energy of the light.
Mr. Kiddey's physical science class took a brief break from their Atom Unit to learn how to safely use a Bunsen burner and review creating heating curves and phase changes by melting ice to boiling. They also were challenged to determine the amount of NaCl in salt water by using the Bunsen Burner as a tool.
In Mr. Glatz's Biology Class, students had fun, diving deep into the microscopic world! Students were challenged to bring in samples from home to explore in the classroom. Students got a close-up look at a mosquito larvae, the intricate details of a flower petal, the structure of packaging material, and even the fine strands of human hair!
Students in Mr. Glatz's Earth and Environment class had fun learning about the Scientific Method and Invasive Species during our Emerald Ash Borer Lab.

Links to the survey and a copy of the letter are listed below. Please contact your student's school counselor with any additional questions.
Marion Mentoring is Back!
We’re excited to kick off the third year of Marion Mentoring! This wonderful program gives high school students the chance to mentor 4th and 5th graders at Walter G. Nord Elementary. Mentoring is a fun and rewarding way for students to build self-confidence, develop new skills, and form lasting connections. This year, we have 34 incredible students participating, and we can't wait to see the bonds they’ll create. We look forward to all the adventures, shared experiences, and meaningful relationships that will blossom throughout the year!
The FAFSA Application Now Open!
Attention Seniors! the 2025–2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is available early, due to an extended testing period by the U.S. Department of Education. Students can start submitting their FAFSA forms now!
We encourage students to complete the FAFSA as soon as they’re ready.
Why is the FAFSA Important?
Completing the FAFSA is a critical step for seniors planning to attend college. It unlocks access to federal financial aid, including grants, work-study opportunities, and federal student loans. It also allows students to be considered for state and school-specific aid (available in the Spring), reducing the overall cost of college and making higher education more affordable.
By submitting the FAFSA early, students can maximize their financial aid options and better plan for college.
For more information, you can watch the FAFSA overview presented by Cleveland State University to our Steele families this past October 10th. Watch the video here: FAFSA Overview Video.

Fall College Representative Visits at Steele
Every fall, Steele offers juniors and seniors with a valuable opportunity to attend college representative visits. These 30-minute sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in our Steele Presentation area, typically at 9:15 am. During these sessions, admissions representatives from various colleges stop in to give an overview of their institutions. They provide detailed information about admissions processes, scholarships, and important deadlines.
This is a great chance for juniors to learn about different colleges and universities and for seniors to ask any questions they might have about the admissions process, majors, scholarships, etc. Students can register for these visits through their SchoolLinks account, which is accessible via their Amherst Launchpad/Classlink login. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Cooney.
