November 8th Newsletter
Pope Francis' Intention for the Month of November
For anyone who has lost a child
We pray that all parents who mourn the loss of a son or daughter find support in their community and receive peace and consolation from the Holy Spirit.
Value of the Month
Cooperation
November's Value is Cooperation! Working with others and with God’s grace and the Holy Spirit to live as a community which works together and serves the mission of Jesus.
“We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
November - The Month of Remembering the Dead
In the Catholic Church, November is a time to remember those who have passed away. It's also a time to pray for the souls in purgatory, who are believed to need purification from sin and selfishness before entering heaven. The Catholic Church holds more Masses on November 2, All Souls Day, and encourages people to honor the graves of their deceased loved ones.
National Native American Heritage Month
President George H.W. Bush designated November as National Native American Heritage Month in 1990 to honor Native American cultures and traditions. It's also a time to raise awareness about the struggles of Indigenous people in the United States.
St. Joseph the Worker
Facts About St. Joseph (Source: Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA)
1. In 1955, an additional feast day was declared by Pope Pius XII and is celebrated on May 1st as the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. This date is also International Workers’ Day and believed to reflect Joseph as the patron saint of workers.
2. Symbols associated with Joseph include the carpenter's square and lily. The carpenter’s square not only symbolizes Joseph’s trade but also the concept of truth. The lily represents purity and Joseph’s celibate marriage to the Virgin Mary.
3. Joseph is the patron saint of the Universal Church, families, fathers, expectant mothers, travelers, immigrants, house sellers and buyers, craftsmen, engineers and working people, among others.
4. Joseph is also considered to be the patron saint of the New World, China, Canada, Korea, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Peru, Vietnam and several cities and dioceses. A popular image of a sleeping St. Joseph, a weary traveler fleeing with his family to Egypt is a replica of one Pope Francis keeps in his room. The pope places notes of special intercession on pieces of paper under the statue.
5. Joseph is portrayed in works of art with grey hair and a beard, an older figure next to Mary and Jesus, and often in the background.
6. The scriptures mention nothing of Joseph’s age and previous life. However, one early tradition believes he was an older man and a widower with children from a previous marriage. From the Office
Report Cards have arrived. Please see details and other important information below.
All students in Grades K to 8 will gather, in the gym, with their teacher in the morning, no later than 7:55AM. The school day begins at 7:55am with morning community prayer and breakfast to follow in classrooms at 8:10AM for our Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, therefore, it is imperative that all students arrive on time daily to school.
1b) Dismissal Procedures
Students not picked up within 10 minutes of their dismissal times will report to after-school and fees will be incurred. Students attending after-school will report to the gym.
Please be mindful that if you need to pick up your child early, you must do so by 2:15PM with advance notice to the office. Early pick-up after 2:15PM is highly un-encouraged, unless it is an emergency, due to the proximity in time to dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
2) As we approach the colder months and head into cold/flu season, please be mindful of our student absence policy. Students should not return to school until they are 24-hours symptom free and are without fever reducing medication. Students absent 3 days or more must submit a doctor's note for re-admission. Thank you for helping to help our school community healthy and safe!
3) Our parent-teacher conference day is Thursday, November 14th. I hope that you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher in-person regarding their academic and behavioral progress so far this school year. Conferences are an important component to ensure that the school and the home work together to maximize your child’s full potential. Parent-teacher conferences will take place on November 14th beginning at 12:30pm until 5:00pm. Each teacher has set up an appointment system for sign-ups! Please reach out to them to schedule your time!
4) As we have reached report card distribution, please be mindful of clearing any outstanding tuition balances. We will be unable to distribute report cards to families with outstanding balances. The portal is closed for all families until November 15th. Thank you for your cooperation.
5) There is No School on Tuesday, Nov. 12th (K-8 Teacher conference).
6) Staff Update: I wanted to inform you that Ms. Alyssa Arias will be leaving St. Elizabeth effective Friday, November 8th. During her time here, Ms. Arias has been a valued member of our school community, and her contributions have made a positive impact on our students and school culture. While we will certainly miss her presence, we are excited to congratulate her as she embarks on her new opportunity.
Good luck, Ms. Arias! We know you will do amazing things!
I am pleased to introduce Ms. Nichole Brown as Ms. Arias's successor. Ms Brown brings with her valuable experience from St. Simon Stock, where she taught our small group instruction model for two years until the school’s recent closing. Her familiarity with our instructional approach, coupled with her dedication to fostering a positive learning environment, will make her an excellent addition here at St. Elizabeth.

Tuition
As a reminder, it is the school’s expectation that all tuition and fees be paid on time. Failure to do so creates a tear in the partnership we have with parents. At the same time, we recognize that a family can experience temporary financial difficulty due to the loss of employment, illness, or other factors beyond the family's control. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the family to contact us to work out arrangements.
Delinquencies
If tuition and fees cannot be paid on time, families must communicate with school administration in writing to prevent enforcement of delinquent tuition procedures.
- Families who are delinquent will receive communication from the main office.
- Families whose tuition payment is delinquent 60 days will receive a second communication; this will come from the administration. If a parent/guardian does not contact the admin within two weeks of receiving the email/phone call, etc., the child/children may not be permitted to attend classes.
- Records and report cards will not be sent at this time and financial aid/scholarships provided will be at risk and may be rescinded.
- Students with delinquent tuition payments may not participate in school activities and graduation ceremonies.
- Access to Educate and 4th quarter progress reports are dependent on tuition and fees being up to date!
