CMEA Weekly
September 12th, 2024
Thank you for joining us!
Thank you to everyone who came to our PTO meeting last week! We had a great turn out and loved seeing old and new faces, and loved listening to the 6th graders’ awesome performance. If you missed it, we approved grants for teachers & staff including:
Speech language pathology items | Field trips for almost every grade | Conferences for our music and art teachers | A volleyball net for recess | SPED materials | SSN classroom supplies | Classroom enhancements for several grades.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to those of you who donated a tricycle, a cozy rug and many puzzles to the preschool room!
You can read all the meeting notes HERE
We also had a discussion about where our fundraising funds should go. We revisited the electronic marquee idea, resurfacing the playground asphalt, covering more of the school bus costs (PTO currently offers $200 per bus, per field trip), more assemblies during the year, covering the cost of a book for every kid at the Book Fair, and Ms Laviaguerre’s vision - updating the technology in the classrooms with a new smart TV. Since we still have some time before Boosterthon, we will get the options together with more information and send out a survey so that the community can have their say, so keep your eye out for that.
In N Out Spirit Night
We are getting close to selling half of the tickets that we need to make this Spirit Night happen! If you haven’t seen the details yet, we have the opportunity to host the In ‘N Out food truck at CME on September 27th, at 5:00pm IF we can pre-sell 200 tickets by September 24th. Tickets are $7 each and include a burger, chips and a soda (grilled cheese will also be available on request), AND we get to keep 75% of the sales! If you are interested in taking a night off of planning dinner, and supporting Copper Mesa, please fill out THIS FORM as soon as possible so that we can get our count. Once we hit 200 tickets, we will contact you to collect the money. We are so excited to make this happen!
Donuts With Grownups
We are excited to bring back one of our most popular events next month, Donuts With Grownups! Mark your calendars and please fill out this RSVP form so we know how many donuts to bring. Allergen friendly donuts will be an option, as well!
Mrs Burke’s Art Supply Wishlist
Our wonderful new art teacher, Karli Burke, spent many hours over the summer cleaning out her new art room, and would love to update some of the supplies. If you are looking for a way to give back to the school, please check out her Amazon wishlist and help her re-stock the room. Our kids are in for an awesome year of art class this year!

Got a knack for party planning? Love reaching out to local businesses? Looking to get your hands dirty (We know for a fact there are some interested dads out there!)?

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year our total donation received is in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so, it’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
