Carus School News
Dear Carus Families,
As we transition into the vibrant season of spring, I hope this email finds you all in good health and high spirits. April marks a period of renewal and growth, and it's with this sentiment that I'm excited to look towards all the learning and events that happen between now and the end of the school year.
We had such a great showing at parent/teacher conferences. It is always heartwarming to watch the students walk their families through the school building with pride and ownership.
We hope that each of you had a restful and rejuvenating Spring Break with your loved ones. Whether you traveled or stayed close to home, we trust that it was a time filled with cherished memories and experiences.
Our dedicated faculty members have been hard at work ensuring that our students receive the highest quality education possible. Please continue to support your child's learning journey by encouraging regular attendance, completing homework assignments, and engaging in open communication with their teachers.
We value the input and involvement of our parents and guardians in the educational process. If you're interested in volunteering, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) or school administration for more information. We would love for you to join us at the April PTA meeting on 4/10 @6pm in the library! Your involvement is what provides additional events and fun for our students.
As we embark on the final stretch of the school year, let's continue to foster a sense of community, resilience, and positivity within our elementary school.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Warm Regards,
Nicole Goff
Carus Principal

2024/25 School Year Placement Input Form
As we start preparations for next school year, we would like to give families an opportunity to give some input regarding their student's placement for the 2024/25 school year. We value your feedback and want to make sure we consider all input when making placements. If you would like to fill out this totally optional survey, please click here!
Student SEED Surveys
Canby School District will offer Oregon’s Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey to students in grades 3-11, as required by Oregon law, during state testing this spring. The SEED Survey gives students the opportunity to voice their experiences in Oregon’s education system and is designed to capture their sense of belonging and experiences at school.
What is the SEED Survey?
It asks students about access to learning resources, learning opportunities, self-efficacy beliefs, and sense of belonging
Grades 6-11 includes questions about career-technical education and extracurricular activities
Grades 9-11 includes questions about post-graduation planning
Multiple choice, with additional open-ended questions for grades 6-11
Takes about 10-20 minutes to complete
Students may decline to answer individual questions
Oregon law (HB 2656) permits parents or guardians to decline to have their student participate in the SEED Survey. Any student who is excused from participating will have supervised study time or another learning activity while other students are completing the survey.
If you would like your student to participate in the SEED Survey, no further action is required.
If you do not want your student to participate in the SEED Survey, please click here to opt out. Please respond by Friday, April 26.
What’s Cooking?
At school, there’s always a meal ready to be served! Some mornings, it’s tough to find the time to make sure your kids are eating a nutritious breakfast. On those days, why not send them to the School Breakfast Program? Each meal meets government nutritional guidelines and standards. Schools are required to provide a breakfast meal that includes fruit, whole-grain rich items, and low fat or fat free milk. Check your child’s menu to see the variety of nutritious choices available at School Breakfast, or stop by to sample the food yourself!
Free Dental Event Coming April 9-11
Consent forms have been sent home with students in K-3 & 6th grade. Please return the form to school with your student. You can also click here for the electronic form.
2024/25 Registration
Registration is officially open for the 2024/25 school year. New and current families need to complete the registration/verification process. Please click here to complete your registration/verification now
