Kindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of School
We had some friends dressed like they were 100... And I would like to add that many put on quite a good show! First, we created our amazing crowns to show we were the kings and queens of 100! We shared and hung up our collections of 100 items, we raced to get to the number 100 by rolling dice and even bounced a balloon 100 times! Since we enjoyed hot cocoa this morning, we also counted out 100 marshmallows....and then ate them all, of course! The children got $100 dollars and wrote about what they would like to get with their money and then we finished off our celebrations with a mystery picture!
Student-Led Conferences
Twain Families,
Student-Led Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, March 6th from 1:00-3:30 and from 4:30-7:30.Classroom teachers will be sending out invitations via email to ALL families by Monday, February 24th.
This conference will be a true Celebration of Learning and look a little different than March conferences have looked in the past. Parents/Guardians are asked to sign up for a block of time. During this period, students will review their goals with you, highlight work, and showcase what they have achieved since October. There will be 4-6 viewing stations set up in each classroom. Teachers will transition between groups during this celebration and assist as needed. Typically this will take about 10-15 minutes; however, families are welcome to come in anytime during the window they have reserved.
Please know our special education staff will be available for walk-ins during the entire day. Specials teachers will be rotating between assigned buildings; however, if you’d like to speak to someone specifically just let us know in the main office and we will have them follow up with you.
Our goal is for 100% of students and families to attend this event. We look forward to celebrating your child’s learning with you.
Sincerely,
Keith Tonn
Principal

Twain Students Join the Kids Heart Challenge
On Tuesday February 11th, representatives from the American Heart Association held an assembly to introduce students to the Kids Heart Challenge. Students learned about healthy lifestyle choices and ways to earn prizes for participating. Families are encouraged to join by using the link below. Last year we raised over $2500. We are looking forward to beating that this year. Thanks for all your support!
6th Grade Family Night at RMS
Dear Future RMS Knight(s) Families,
On behalf of our staff at Richards Middle School, we would like to formally invite you and your child to Richards Middle School on the evening of Thursday, February 20th at 6:00pm.
The purpose of this evening is to introduce you and your child to their future school, a glimpse into the selective curricular courses we offer, and a tour of the 7th grade subject areas/selective designated classrooms. Our 6th-grade parents and guardians will meet in the RMS gymnasium to start their night while our 6th-grade students will meet in the cafeteria. Our parents and guardians of students who have IEP’s can visit our ASC room in room 105 starting at 6:40pm to meet with members of RMS SE team.
Our 6th grade night presentation will start promptly at 6:00pm. Our parents’ presentation will be in the gym to hear an opening message from our RMS admin. team, listen to informational presentations, meet our core subject academic department heads, and have an opportunity to see our 7th grade academic classrooms. Our students will be grouped by schools in the cafeteria to start their presentations of our selectives offerings. Our goal is to provide you and your child with an understanding of our RMS vision and mission statements through our academic and social emotional supports and experiences during the middle school years.
6th Grade Parent Night Schedule and Information
Our RMS counselors will visit each elementary classroom either Monday, February 24th, Tuesday, February 25th, and Wednesday, February 26th to assist our 6th grade students in filling out their schedule forms. Twain Parking Lot Reminders
The North lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for parking only. We MUST keep the loop open for busses and emergency vehicles. This rule applies to everyone, so please be cooperative and follow it.
The large, central lot has two lanes: a drop-off/ pick-up lane on the outside of the loop and a driving lane on the inside.
Please note: Drivers MAY NOT get out of your car while in the outside drop-off/ pick-up lane. Your students must exit to the outside of the loop, and drivers must not exit the car to walk students up or pick them up. If you have younger children who need to be walked up or picked up at the door, you MUST park your car in one of the lots or on the street.
Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please do NOT swear on school grounds. We are trying to set a positive example for behavior for our Twain Comets, and shouting and swearing at other drivers does not set the right example for our kids. We ask our students to be respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe, and we expect those behaviors to be modeled by our parents, too.
