It is with a HEAVY heart that I send out my very last newsletter as principal of Spring Lake Elementary. What an absolute honor it has been to work with the students and families of this wonderful community! I will miss rubbing shoulders with you and will forever hold a special place in my heart for every child at Spring Lake. To the many parents who have reached out to say goodbye - in one way or another - THANK YOU! Your words have meant the world to me!

We have a fun filled week coming up that starts with our POOL DAY for 4th & 5th Grade and FIELD DAY for 1st through 3rd Grade on Tuesday, May 24th. I accidentally listed the incorrect date on a past newsletter and wanted to get that cleared up before we start the week.

Congratulations to our Kindergarten students who graduated last week! We also enjoyed our final 5th grade showcase of "Famous Americans" wax museum. I'm so proud of all our students have accomplished this year! It's been a great year of growth and learning.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer full of sunshine, outdoor play, quality family time and relaxation.

Our 1st - 3rd grade students will be enjoying Field Day on Tuesday, May 24th. Different grade levels will be rotating outside to enjoy fun in the sun and will get to play on TWO large bounce houses that were donated by the PTA - THANK YOU PTA!

That same day, our upper grade students in 4th & 5th will be leaving around 10:30 AM to walk to Payson Pool. They will enjoy sack lunches on the lawn as they wait for the pool to open at 12:00 PM. After two hours of swimming, they will be walking back to the school.

Remember to apply sunscreen to your child (if they aren't able to do it themselves). It's a good idea for students to wear their suits to school under their regular clothing (boys may wear their swim trunks with a t-shirt) and bring a clean change of underwear to put on afterward. If a child has to completely change into their suit once at the pool, they will wait in long lines for bathrooms and changing rooms which will limit their time to swim.

Here's a list of what your child may need at the pool:

Swimsuit

Towel

Sunscreen

Swim Goggles (if needed)

Backpack, Tote or cinch sack to hold personal items.

Money for concession stand (OPTIONAL)

Lunch or Snacks (if bringing lunch from home)

Lifejacket, pool noodle, or floatation device

Many items are often left behind so be sure to label items with your child's name if you hope to recover them if lost.

Nebo is partnering with the Utah Food Bank again this year to provide free summer meals in four of Nebo School District communities. Fresh and free summer meals will be offered every Monday through Friday.

The Payson City Library is hosting a summer-long adventure called "Oceans of Possibilities". Log your reading this summer! Challenge yourself to learn about the pirates, sea animals, daring explorations, and myths and legends of times past. Attend events, search for secret codes, and earn prizes!

Last week, a letter and link to our Student Needs Form was sent to parents. If you feel your child requires special considerations for a class placement for next year, please fill out the form. Mrs. Findlay and Mrs. Jordan will use the information as they work on class placements for next year.
