The Bronco Roundup
April 2024-6th Edition
A Message from Our Principal, Mrs. Guillory:
I hope this message finds you well and thriving in your academic journey. Today, I want to write to you about something that might not always seem exciting or glamorous but carries great importance: statewide testing. Statewide testing, like standardized exams, might feel like just another hurdle to cross in your education, but it's crucial to understand its significance. Here's why:
- Measuring Progress: They help educators, parents, and policymakers understand how well schools are performing and where improvements are needed.
- Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: These tests can pinpoint areas where you excel and areas where you may need more support. This information is valuable for tailoring your education to better meet your needs.
- Accountability: It ensures that every student has access to a high-quality education, regardless of their background or location.
- Preparation for the Future: While tests may seem daunting now, they prepare you for similar challenges in the future, such as college entrance exams or professional certifications. Developing strong test-taking skills is a valuable asset for your academic journey.
- Equity and Fairness: Statewide testing helps ensure fairness and equity in education by providing a common measure for all students. It helps identify and address disparities in resources and opportunities among different schools and communities.
Remember, these tests are not just about evaluating you as an individual student; they're about improving the entire education system to better serve all students. So, when you sit down to take your statewide tests, approach them with confidence and a growth mindset. Use them as an opportunity to showcase your skills and knowledge, and don't be afraid to seek help or support if you need it. Your hard work and dedication matter, not just for your own success, but for the collective success of our school system. Keep striving for excellence and remember that every test is a step forward in your journey of learning and growth.

Science Club
If you are interested in Science, you may be interested in MBMS' Science Club for next school year! Students need to have a C average in their Science class. They will also be required to complete a science fair project as well as engage in a couple of group projects throughout the year. There will be a field trip at the end of the year for all members that meet club requirements.
Student Council
We accept all grade levels to apply and run for election into the council. Students must have a 2.5 GPA and members are elected via student AND teacher votes. Students must complete a specified amount of service hours each semester and must always represent the school and the council in a positive manner.
Chess Club
The Chess Club is a place where different players of varying strengths and experiences can interact together. This way they can learn, compete, and make each other better at every session. You don't need to know how to play chess to join, just be willing to learn! Students from all grade levels are welcome!
Jr. Beta
We are a school leadership club. There are two big parts of Beta Club: service and competition. When you are a Beta, you are a role model in the school. We help those in need and do a lot of community projects to make our school and community a better place to live. We compete three times a year against other schools in Louisiana and nationally against other states to see who is the best at their talent. National Beta Club is a great club if your goal is to be a leader one day! Just ask our star studded alumni- like former President Bill Clinton, professional football player Jake Delhomme, national news journalist Diane Sawyer, and professional singers Justin Timberlake, Trisha Yearwood, and Scotty McCreery!
To be a Beta you have to be a leader. At MBMS, you need to have a 3.5 GPA or better and you should not have any office referrals. If Beta Club sounds like a great fit for you, then come grab an application from Mrs. Bravo so you can start your Beta adventure!
Student Council
Join the MBMS History Club! The History Club is a place for students who enjoy and appreciate learning about History. We will focus on topics concerning Louisiana History, U.S. History, and some World History Topics as well. This club is a research-based club; you will learn the proper aspects and procedures of successfully presenting a research project. Details of the project will be discussed with you at the first meeting. The reward for presenting your History Club Project at the end of the school year is a club Culture and Heritage Celebration. You will be allowed to attend a party in which we celebrate as many heritages and cultures as possible. There will be food, music, games, and FUN! We look forward to having you next year! Please direct any questions about the History Club to Mrs. McMahon in room 8200!
