PONY LEAGUE BASKETBALL REGISTRATION IS LIVE! ENDS ON 12/18
Pony League is an instructional program to introduce GIRLS and BOYS (kindergarten and 1st grade) to the basics of basketball before they play on the Kilgour Basketball teams (2nd-6th grades). The main emphasis is to have FUN and develop an appreciation for the sport! The goal of the program is to offer the kids an introduction to basketball, while learning the basic rules and how to play the game. The program will include drills for dribbling, passing and shooting with scrimmages against each other. There will not be games against other schools. Your child must wear gym shoes and bring a properly inflated size 28.5” basketball (indoor ball is preferable but not required). The Registration fee is $15, which includes a program t-shirt.
The program will consist of two (1) hour sessions on Friday evenings in the Kilgour Gym from 5:00-7:00pm. The first hour will be for the girls and second hour for the boys. There will be no other weekday practices or weekend games. The sessions start January 5th and will run through Feb 23rd. The sessions will not be held on days where kids do not have classes. Based on registration numbers, we may have to customize a schedule to keep the number of kids manageable. We will be in contact following registrations to communicate scheduling.
Parent support is required for the success of the program. We need volunteer coaches. Advanced preparation is not required as we already have a successful format – you only need to show up and help for one hour. Coaching & basketball experience are also not required but helpful.
Need help with the fees? Confidential need-based sports scholarships are available for families in need.
All interested children are encouraged to play. All inquires are held in confidence.
Should you have any questions, please send email to Andrew Derksen @ arderksen@gmail.com.

Kilgour and ABC an Enriching Partnership
In 78 instructional days Activities Beyond the Classroom has provided approximately 470 hours of fine arts enrichment to the students of Kilgour. To further break it down, that's 187 hours of ukulele and 283 hours of visual arts instruction, at no cost to our families.
ABC has also purchased a set of Latin books and the companion instructor materials to aid Mrs. Cholak in restoring the Latin program at Kilgour. Hopefully you're picking up what I'm putting down, our partnership with ABC has been an amazing one in just a short amount of time.
In addition to their own Fine Arts clubs, ABC also connected us with the Chris Collinsworth's Foundation and ProScan Chess. This partnership has provided 257 hours of chess instruction, again at no cost to our families.
To further make the point, our partnership with ABC has saved our families approximately $25,000 in just the first 78 days of school by providing no cost enrichment activities. I think that's what Principal Cook-Frazier likes to call "LEVELING UP!"
