Good Sunday afternoon,

We hope everyone had a Brilliant weekend! We are excited to see our Broncos tomorrow and continue our work as Brilliantly Inspired Leaders and Learners through our Bronco 5! We are so incredibly proud of our Broncos and all of the hard work they are putting in each day on campus and of our staff for their excellence in growing our students.

This is a busy week for us on campus! In addition to all of the second quarter learning, we have our Anti-Drug Week and the much loved Storybook Character Parade on Thursday. More information on both these events including dress-up theme days can be found below. This Thursday is also the last day to order our Stampede Memory books at the discounted rate. We also have more club info coming out this week and next on MultiCultural Club, Christian Club, 5th grade Student Council and more! We encourage all of our Broncos to continue to plug-in on campus! We know it will be another great week for our Broncos!

This year we are focusing on encouraging our Broncos to have great attendance! Students attending school regularly is a huge factor in helping them be successful as Leaders and Learners! Part of that focus is encouraging our Broncos to cheer each other on as a class with tracking their classroom perfect attendance days. The classrooms have opportunities to earn prizes each time their classroom gets 10 days of perfect attendance. There are also quarterly prizes that a classroom can earn for attendance.

Our campus is doing a great job of improving our attendance this year with our campus average each week at over 96%! That is a big increase from last year and it's making a big difference in our student's academic growth as well!

We wanted to say congrats to Ms. Mast's class who won the highest number of perfect attendance days last quarter with 28 days! Their classroom will recieve a special incentive in the coming weeks. Great job Broncos!

We had so much fun skating Friday night at Skate Champions. We were so glad that so many Broncos and Bronco families were able to join us for the Spooky Skate night. Our Broncos did a great job showing off their awesome skating skills!

Thank you to Brill's PTO for sponsoring an event from the Houston Museum of Natural Science for our 4th graders on Friday! Our Broncos had a blast Exploring Energy and seeing Science come to life!

Thank you to our room reps and Brill parents for the pumpkin donations!! Our classrooms will be choosing a book to inspire their pumpkin decorating this week and the pumpkins will go on display in the library next week for voting. We can't wait to see all of our Bronco's creativity!

Broncos, it's time to get your memory books for this year! See the flyer below for all the details!

Bronco families are invited to attend and cheer on our Broncos in the Storybook Character Parade! Our classroom parades will be making an outside loop at 8:45am for families to see. Guests are invited to line up in the bus and car rider line parking lots to cheer and view the parade. Students will exit the cafeteria doors and walk along the sidewalk where they will reenter the building through the Science Lab doors.

*If case of rain, we will have guests come inside to the middle of the cafeteria and our students will make a large loop around the cafeteria before re-entering the instructional area.

We will send reminders and parade route plans throughout the week via email and Remind. We hope that everyone is able to join us!

If your student was absent on Fall Picture Day or you bought a package and would like a retake, please see the flyer below. Retakes will take place on Friday morning this week. Students should bring their photo package with them to give to the photographer.

Our 5th grade students are working hard to prepare for our upcoming Veteran's Day program. During the program we would love to play a digital Memorial Wall honoring our communities' family and friends who have served our country. Please add your loved one's picture and service information to our slidedeck below so we may honor them at the program. Thank you!

We would like to invite the Brill community to our 5th grade performance as we honor our Veteran's on November 7th.

It’s that time of year again where our students compete in the Campus Spelling Bee for District representation. Students have been working hard and studying for the Spelling Bee. Teachers have been practicing and will select the top 5 highest spellers from the grade level from 3rd-5th grade to represent for the campus Spelling Bee, which will be held on December 6th starting at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Please let us know if you have any questions.

• Class Bee winners are due November 8th.
• Students selected will take home spelling list the week of November 11th to study during the break.
• Selected students will have a practice round on December 2nd.
• 20 Students will compete for the Campus Spelling Bee on December 6th.

• Campus Judges are: Mrs. Harvey (back up), Ms. Springer-Rios, Mrs. Lukert, and Mrs. Luza.
• Our Profound Pronouncer is, Ms. Nieto.

Parents,

• We are incentivizing for students based on behaviors and academics.
• Students must complete assignments and not have any office referrals for physical contact in order to participate. Students with other referrals may have partial time for the incentive.
• Student behaviors will be from October 21-December 12, January 13 -March 13, and March 24 - May 22, for the next incentive.
• We will have school wide incentives on December 13th (Just Dance), March 14th (Board Game Day), and May 23rd (Popcorn/Popsicle Day) for students to earn.
• Please remind students on school expectations through our Bronco 5.

This year we will be celebrating a Bronco from each class every month that does a great job of displaying our Bronco 5 trait of the month. Our Bronco 5 traits include Respect, Kindness, Self-Control, Communication, and Integrity. The class Bronco of the Month will be voted on by their fellow classmates.

We are excited to get Bronco Chorale started this year!!! Bronco Chorale is our choir for 4th and 5th grade students at Brill Elementary. Student Illness:

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

NEW Medication Guidelines:

If your child will need a prescribed medication while at school, there has been a change to Klein ISD procedures. Prescribed medications will need a written order by a licensed healthcare provider. Clinic staff will not be able to use the prescription label as proof of the written medical order, as in the past. The licensed healthcare provider can use the Klein ISD Medication Authorization form, an action plan, or a letter from their office to provide their signed consent. If you have any questions, please contact our school clinic.

Also please contact the clinic for any student needing an action plan.

Ex. Action plans may include the following:

• Asthma
• Allergy to foods
• Diabetes
• Seizures

All car riders and walkers will be allowed in the building beginning at 7:45 am to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. All bus riders will have the option of eating breakfast once they arrive on campus. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria each morning in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

Thirty minute lunch periods will be scheduled by grade level beginning at 10:30 am through 12:50 pm. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria at every lunch in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

In order to be able to comfortably accommodate the large number of students eating lunch in the cafeteria at one time, it is necessary to assign days for parents to eat lunch with students at the tables in the front lobby.

Grade level assigned lunch days are listed below. Lunch visitors on days other than the assigned day will be permitted with prior permission from campus administration and will be limited to special circumstances such as birthdays, out of town visitors, etc.

Last week we worked to get all student's their ID and transportation tags. Please note their are specific locations for these tags on your student's backpack and the tags need to stay in those locations, please. Bus riders will need to have their SMART tags when entering and exiting the bus, all car riders, bus riders, and walkers from Pre-K through 1st need a transportation tag, and teachers have ID tags for lunch time.

If you student has lost their tag or a replacement/additional one is needed, please contact Ms. Hall in the front office via email or by phone at rhall2@kleinisd.net or 832-484-6150.

• Visitors should ring the doorbell located at the front door of the school in order to notify the front office staff of your arrival.

• Visitors will be asked to present their IDs to the camera before entering the building.

• Once inside, visitors should report to the main office to check-in and receive their visitors badge. Visitors are asked to remain in the areas noted on their badge.

• Students will not be released to visitors during school hours without a photo ID, thank you for understanding and for helping us to keep our Broncos safe.

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to produce one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

• Parent Note
• Message through Parent Skyward account
• Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
• Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
• Court note
• Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

All cell phones and electronic devices including Airpods and earbuds should be kept powered off in your student's backpack or belongings. Students may not use their cell phone or electronic device during school hours. Cell phone use in restrooms is strictly prohibited and will result in school consequences. If a student is caught using their phone, the device will be taken to the office by a staff member and the parent will be contacted.

If a parent or caretaker needs to communicate with their child, please contact the front office and we will facilitate getting your child the message.
