Finishing Strong
We've had another fantastic week at Lincoln Elementary! As we count down to the end of the school year, let's remind our children that although there are only 20 days left, there's still plenty of learning to accomplish. The finish line may be in sight, but our journey isn't over yet!
Each day, our students recite our PAWSome pledge: I will Practice Safety, Act Responsibly, Work Toward Success, and Show Respect. Unfortunately, we've noticed an increase in students struggling to maintain self-control and follow some of our schoolwide behavior expectations in the past couple of weeks. Let's work together to finish the year strong by reinforcing these expectations at home.
Looking ahead, we have important assessments coming up, including one more STAAR assessment for 3rd-5th grades and end-of-year universal screeners for all students. These assessments help us measure your child's academic growth throughout the year. We look forward to sharing their successes with you.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these final weeks together.
Introducing Mrs. Miller, Our New Assistant Principal
We are excited to announce the hiring of our new Assistant Principal, Rachel Miller! The selection process was thorough and inclusive, guided by input from both parents and staff surveys. We screened applicants for attributes and characteristics that our school community values most.
A panel of 10 staff members conducted interviews with six highly qualified candidates, and finalists were further interviewed by Mrs. Ashlock and our Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. After careful consideration, Rachel Miller emerged as the clear choice.
Rachel embodies all the qualities our school community was looking for, and we are confident she will be a perfect fit here at Lincoln. Please join us in welcoming Rachel to our school family!
Tell Us Your Plans (Repeat from Last Week)
We are working hard to plan for the 24-25 school year, and we need your help. We'd like for EVERY family to complete the survey below by May 3 to help us make sure we are staffed appropriately. It also helps us as we create class lists to ensure each class is as balanced as possible. The survey should only take you 1-2 minutes to complete. Thank you!
Pre-K and Kindergarten Signing Day
If you have in incoming Pre-K student or Kindergartener, make sure you have completed your early enrollment so you can participate in our 1st ever PK & K Signing Day! All students who will have completed early enrollment for Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 24-25 school year by May 9 are invited to come tour the campus, meet some of our staff, get a prize, be entered into a drawing for free school supplies, and a fun photo opportunity as they "sign" their intent to attend LES PK or Kindergarten next year. It is going to be a lot of fun!

Early Enrollment for New Students for the 24-25 School Year
In order to help the district and our campus plan better for staffing for the upcoming school year, we need YOUR help! If you have students who will be new to LES in August, we are asking that you take advantage of the early enrollment opportunity next month. If you know someone who has kids who will be new to LES in August, please encourage them to register early as well.

All About Lunch
Lunch Schedules
Lunch visitors who are on a child's emergency contact list are welcome to eat with that child on the stage during the student's lunch period starting on August 28. Visitors will need to check in at the front office with their ID and get a visitor badge. Please do not invite other students to join you or provide food or snacks for other students. When lunch is over, all students will line up with their class. Visitors will return to the front office to turn in their visitor badge.
A friendly reminder, we do not have an open lunch policy so please do not order food for your child from outside vendors to be delivered to the school during the school day (i.e. Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, or any kind of delivery service). This becomes a safety concern when staff need to leave the front office to deliver food to students or take their focus off of families who have business in the office. Food deliveries also increase the number of unfamiliar people entering the building. Additionally, our lunch times are very tight and do not allow for late deliveries. We cannot allow for learning to be disrupted by early or late food deliveries. Thank you for understanding our focus on safety and uninterrupted instructional time.
Lunch TImes:
- Pre-K & ECSE (AM) - 11:30-12:00
- ECSE (PM) - 11:40-12:10
- Kindergarten - 12:20-12:50
- 1st Grade - 11:45-12:15
- 2nd Grade - 10:55-11:25
- 3rd Grade - 11:10-11:40
- 4th Grade - 12:05-12:35
- 5th Grade - 12:35-1:05
School Hours, Attendance, and Tardies
- Doors open at 7:50
- Tardy bell rings, and class begins at 8:15. (This is the time students are expected to be in their seats in the classroom.)
- School day ends at 3:40
We are working hard to maximize each and every minute our students are here. Students who arrive after 8:15 are considered tardy and will need to be walked into the front door of the building and signed in by a parent or guardian. If your child needs to leave early, they may be checked out through the front office by a parent or guardian no later than 3:15 pm.
Attendance is of critical importance to your child's academic success. Click here on a district update regarding attendance procedures for the 23-24 school year. Rather than sending a note to school with your child upon his/her return from an absence, parents will enter the absence information through Family Access in Skyward. Directions for entering the infomation is availble in the link above.
Changes in transportation need to be made prior to 2:00 in order to allow time for the messages to be communicated with the appropriate staff member. To request a change of transportation, either
- Send a note with your child,
- Email LincolnElementaryTransit@misd.org with the note and a copy of your driver's license, or
- Come to the school with a copy of your driver's license.
