Clyde Erwin Elementary School
Dr. Patterson's Weekly Update
Eagle Pride: Video by Dr. Patterson
February 1, 2020
Happy Saturday Eagles!!
Our middle-of-the-year assessment window has finally ended, and all students have been assessed in reading and math. Teachers have been collaborating and working in the data team meetings to plan instruction based on individual student needs. Thank you to our parents who are working with your students at home. Most importantly, READ with your children EVERY NIGHT. Multiple research sources report the importance of reading with children even after they are fluent readers. Sharing the love of reading in the home instills a love of reading in children and supports their overall growth in reading.
Our PBIS celebration was a huge success! The students had a blast during the glow party dancing and playing. Thank you to our PBIS committee for all of your hard work and dedication to students. Every student currently has a clean slate for the next celebration, so make good choices every day to attend on March 6.
Attendance
THANK YOU to our families who make it a priority to get students to school every day and on time. We average over 20 tardies a day at Clyde Erwin. Additionally, we have students who are tardy almost daily and checked out early on a consistent basis. Please keep in mind that our teachers teach 8:00am - 2:45pm daily. Every minute of instructional time counts. Did you know that if a student is 15 minutes tardy every day, that equals almost 44 hours of instructional time lost? Fifteen minutes may not seem like much, but it adds up quickly.
Talent Show
Our talent show for 2020 will be held on the evening of March 5 at 5:30pm. Doors will open at 5:00pm. Tryouts have been completed, and practices are beginning. Thank you to our Talent Show Committee for all of your work so far! We have the most awesome staff members! We are looking forward to the best talent show ever! Mark your calendars!
Box Tops
Thank you to all who donated Box Tops! We will be collecting until the beginning of May. Please continue to collect Box Tops and turn them in by April. Box Tops provide extra funding for our school.
THANK YOU for being a Box Tops Hero!
