TUSD Family Resource Centers
August 2023
Family Resource Center services are available to TUSD students and their families, free of charge. Please call the center to register for classes. Childcare is available to TUSD students and siblings for most classes. Please inform staff of the need for childcare when you register. Include the number of children, ages, and any special needs. Interpreter services are available. Please inform staff of the need for an interpreter when you register. Please register at least two weeks in advance if interpreter services are needed.
Other services include:

- Help with TUSD forms
- Information and referrals

In Person Classes & Events
Back-to-School Immunizations- Pima County Health Department
The TUSD Family Resource Centers are partnering with the Pima County Health Department (PCHD) to offer back-to-school vaccines for TUSD students. An adult parent/guardian must be present for children under 18. All recommended vaccines, and the COVID-19 vaccines for children (5 and older) will be available. PCHD staff will bill insurance companies for those with insurance. No-cost vaccines are available for the uninsured. Please bring picture IDs, insurance cards, and immunization records.

Basic Spanish Skills- Presented by Mrs. Granados
Would you like to be able to understand and speak basic Spanish? Then please join our beginner Spanish class to learn practical skills. Come and have fun learning a new language while meeting other TUSD families. Please give us a call at 520-908-3980 to sign up.

Becoming Financially Fit (Orientation)- Presented by Family Housing Resources
This a required orientation for people interested in attending the Becoming Financially Fit class. The Financial Foundations Program is a “FREE TO YOU” program developed for Family Housing Resources Inc. to help you build a solid foundation of financial education, grow your wealth, and achieve financial freedom. It includes an 8-session course that will cover budgeting, taxes, loans, and more. After the course, we will pair you with an expert mentor to help you create a plan to achieve your financial goals. An orientation session is required. This course will be held in person at no cost to you, and all participants that complete the program successfully may be eligible to receive up to $200.00!

Fatty Liver Study- Presented by Nosotros (for adults)
The Nosotros team at the University of Arizona will be offering free fatty liver scans for adults. Appointments are required. Please call Rosa Maria to schedule an appointment at 520-225-2172. Participants must fast for 3 hours before the exam, not drink coffee, and wear comfortable clothes. You may drink water.

Whatever role you play in a child's life, our groups empower you to give kids the brightest start possible. Participants will receive First Aid & CPR training and a certificate of completion. Nutrition Class- Presented by the U of A Cooperative Extension (adults and young children)
Join us for a fun time learning how to cook with your young child(ren), with a friend, or on your own. During this 6-week session, you will increase your knowledge about food safety, sugar, salts, fats, and exercise. George McSly will unleash your child's imagination. Watch as things appear, disappear and float right before your eyes. Welcome to a Healthy School Year - Presented by Pima County Health Department (all ages)
Welcome to a Healthy School Year is taking place at the Menlo FRC for families in the Santa Cruz region of schools. Free sport physicals will be provided. Appointments are required, please give us a call. The Covid-19 and flu shots will also be available for adults. We will also have community and district partners sharing information.
