CAASPP TESTING
Dear Lodi USD Parent/Guardians,
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support.
Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website.

Character Trait #13: Paying Attention
Our students are constantly bombarded with information from television and social media. TikTok and Instagram condition users to click and scroll through content in just seconds. However, in class, students are expected to pay attention and be focused for significantly longer periods of time. Trait #13 is focused on paying attention and being prepared. Everyday in all of our classrooms, students are expected to follow along in text or on the Promethean board. It may be reading literature, instructions, or a math problem. Students need to be able to follow what is being read and be prepared when called upon. It disrupts learning when students need to be told where the class is on a page or have information repeated because the student was not following along.
Here are some tips to help your child pay attention and follow along: Listen closely and follow word by word, think about what is happening in the story and what might happen next, and write down questions.
Homework and Afterschool Clubs Schedule Changes
Art, Coding, and Sports Club will continue to meet at 4:00 on their regularly scheduled days.
SAFETY UPDATES
Patience please. We are seeing a decrease in patience in our parking lot and many folks not utilizing our car gate dismissal system. I realize if you are waiting on the street to enter our parking lot to get in line for pick up, it seems like a long time. However, once kids are out of class, we consistently have all students in cars by 2:45.
Remember, the bell rings for our littles (1st-3rd) at 2:30. It takes several minutes for the students to leave class and get to the front of our school. Kindergarteners are not dismissed until 2:40. Thank you for helping us keep kids safe!
