No School Monday 9/2/24!
NEXT WEEK! Color days continue!
Color Days at The ELC!
We will be celebrating colors for the next two weeks here at school. We do lots of theme and dress up days, and they are ALWAYS optional and ALWAYS just for fun!! If your child has something in the color of the day, have them wear it 🙂
Color Day Friends!
Bus Safety Week was a success!
The kids all had Bus Safety lessons this week in library with Ms. Fraze and SRO D (aka Officer Pigeon) They LOVED getting to tell that Pigeon "NO!" over and over when he tries everyway he knows how to get to try and drive that bus! It's a great way to have some fun all while learning about all the safe things to do on and near a bus! One of our biggest discussions is where and how to walk around the bus and where the danger zones are so they stay safe while getting on and off the bus!
Mr. Williams is talking about being a good friend and not being a bully.
The ELC works hard on character education for all of our students. We are beginning the school year with a lesson on bullying and hitting. Mr. Williams will be visiting classrooms and presenting the story, "No More Hitting For Little Hamster" to demonstrate appropriate behavior and talk about why we don't hit others, ever. The book does a great job at illustrating the feelings and consequences from hitting; it's concept can be applied to all bullying behaviors.
And we are off!!!
The kids are doing such a FANTASIC job with their procedures every day and we are in the full swing of learning. Here are some of the goals we are looking to achieve during the first quarter!
Some of our friends are crushing their goals already!!

Has your child ever wanted to go into a GAMETRUCK?!? We are starting the year off with an awesome opportunity for them to be able to here at school! This is an awesome fundraiser that helps us earn money for our school. We hope everyone will buy at least the 1 book they are sent home with. If you are not interested in participating, please just stick a little note on the coupon book that says "Not Interested" and leave it in their red folder to be returned to school the next day. SPIRIT WEAR!!!!!
Here at The ELC, and all over the SCOH district- we LOVE to celebrate Brickie Fridays and encourage the kids to wear their purple and gold every Friday with us! We will be sending home these order forms as soon as school starts so your Little Brickie can get some gear. The due date for this will be September 6th with no exceptions as we want to have the orders back to us before the big homecoming game.
Did you know that you as parents can nominate a staff member to be recognized as someone who is Being Excellent On Purpose? Dr. Buffington LOVES to know about and celebrate the positive!

Our SRO, Officer D is celebrating his first full year of Kindergarten at The ELC this year too. If you ever need to reach him- all of his contact info is listed here.
LOST & FOUND!
And so it begins!! Our lost and found already has items collecting! We will post pictures of our lost and found periodically here on Facebook and in our weekly newsletters. If you see something that is your child’s, or know your child is missing something- please reach out to SRO D. Please do not comment on Facebook if you see something that is your child's. His contact info is pictured here as well. Thanks!!
And remember- a GREAT way to keep your child's items out of lost & found jail is to LABEL EVERYTHING! If it is labeled, we can easily get it back to your child!
