ATLAS Interim Testing
DID YOU KNOW YOU COULD LOGIN TO SEE YOUR CHILD'S SCORES?
Parent Access Codes were sent home via email last fall; however, we will resend home a paper copy of your Parent Access Code to login to see your child's score. IF you would like this information sooner and/or are worried you may not receive the access code, please email Dr. Heather Williams, principal, and she will get you the parent access code via email. Her email is heatherwilliams@sheridanschools.org.
What do I do when I get the parent access code?
When you enter the ATLAS Family Portal via the website on the Parent Access Code, you will see the picture below. It will show you your child's performance on each content area (Math, Science, and ELA). It will also show you which level they scored in for each test. Scores are updated as students complete their interim tests. (see testing schedule above)
What do the levels mean?
The levels indicate your child's performance compared to grade-level expectations. We use this information to help us better help your child.
What can I do to help as a parent?
1. Encourage your child to do their best! Students THRIVE when they get positive praise and reinforcement. If they know their parents are excited about their tests and how they perform, we know they will try their best! Also, if they know their parents are going to SEE their scores, they will try their best as well! 🙃
2. Make sure your child is at school on testing dates. Students do SO much better when they test with everyone else. While we do offer make-up test sessions, students tend to do much better if they test on the same days as the rest of the student body.
3. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before. If students are tired, it will be hard for them to focus and do their best on these tests. We want them to show growth, but if they are falling asleep, it may be hard for them to show what they truly know. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before testing. It will help their brain stay awake, which will lead to them doing well on their tests!

Attendance Matters
EEM Families,
Regular attendance is key to your child’s success in school. When students attend consistently, they not only keep up with daily lessons and work but also develop essential habits like responsibility and time management. Missing school—even just a few days—can make it harder for students to stay on track academically and socially.
We’re here to support your family in ensuring your child is present and engaged every day. Together, we can set them up for a bright future! Thank you for prioritizing attendance and partnering with us in your child’s education.
Please make sure to turn any written documentation for excused absences to Tina Goodwin, attendance clerk. You may email a copy of the written documentation within 5 days of the absence to tinagoodwin@sheridanschools.org or turn the written documentation into the front office within 5 days of the absence.
***Please see the attached forms that outline the Sheridan School District attendance policy. If you have any questions, please contact the East End Middle front office at (501) 261-6565.
Teacher Contact Information
Staying in contact with your child's teachers is one of the best ways to ensure your child's success. If you have any questions about your child's grades, behavior, etc., please email your child's teachers immediately. Communication is essential to an effective partnership between school and home.
Order a Yearbook
Parents, we could use your help! If your student participates in school sports or activities and you have taken pictures at events, please send your photos to jenniferstrickland@sheridanschools.org. We would love to include them in our upcoming yearbook. Also, be sure to order your EEM yearbook at yearbookforever.com by April 11, 2024. The price of a yearbook is $40.

Character Word for February
What is Kindness?
Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.
Why focus on Kindness?
- Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
- Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
- Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.

Nurse's Corner
February is here, temps are warming up, but we’re still in the thick of cold and flu season. Let’s stress to our students not to share drinks, food, snacks, clothing and let’s keep practicing good hygiene and healthy habits. It’s the new semester but immunizations still need to be up-to-date or an exemption letter needs to be turned in to the nurse. BMI and Height screenings will be done in the Spring– more information to follow.
The Reminders:
If your child needs a check-up, immunizations, or is feeling ill our Jacket Health and Wellness Clinic is convenient and quick. For more information click the link Jacket Health or call (870) 484-4411 to set up an appointment..
There are only a handful of students left to rescreen. If students wear glasses they must have their glasses on for the Vision screening or they will not be screened.
Please be mindful when buying candy or snacks for the school that the Sheridan School District is a peanut/tree nut free district. Please do not send or allow your child to bring food items into the school that contain peanuts, peanut products, or tree nuts. This information will be found on the label under ingredients. Due to continual changes in manufacturer packaging and processing, please read the ingredient label to ensure that it does not contain any of the following: peanuts/ nuts, peanut/nut butter, peanut/nut oil, peanut/nut flour, peanut/nut meal, or any of the statements “may contain traces of peanut/nuts.” (M&M’s, Butterfinger).
If your child has a health condition, please inform the school nurse. We want to keep all our students safe and make sure they are receiving proper care while at school.
Please keep your child at home if they have a fever, vomiting, or have diarrhea. Students must be 24 hrs without fever or symptoms in order to return to school. Please also let attendance or the school nurse know.
Parents, be on the lookout for head lice and remind students not to share combs/brushes or clothing items.
Thank you and please contact me with any questions or concerns.
