Students and Staff of the Week
This year the Leadership class has decided to change how student and staff awards are given. This will be done twice a month, with 1 boy and 1 girl winning from each grade level. One week we will have girl winners and one week we will have boy winners. The leadership class was able to get some Gift Card donations from local businesses to add to the award gift package. Teachers are also asked to be more thoughtful and provide the why with their nomination. When teachers nominate students they are looking for the following:
Integrity
Responsibility
Respect
Effort
5th Grade- Trey Hermann
6th Grade- Landry Dooley
7th Grade- Evander Johnson
8th Grade- Robert Doud
8th Grade- Calleigh Christian (Not Pictured winner from April 15)
Staff- Mrs. Dooley
Connecting with the Counselor
We will be talking about some Digital Safety things the last few weeks of school. With Summer quickly approaching, students might find themselves on a phone, gaming system or different form of electronics more than they were during the school year. This week, students participated in a lesson about online friendships. Several students reported that they talk to people online using video games and various apps. Students learned more about those "red flag feelings" that should alert them that they might be approaching an unsafe situation. I would encourage you to ask your student about what they talked about and continue the conversation about online safety at home.
As a parent and an educator, I use the Common Sense Media resources a lot. Here is the tab that talks specifically about on-line safety: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/articles/online-safety

Please include your child’s first and last name on the form, as I don’t teach every one of them this year!
