Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
It is hard to believe that today is the end of the second trimester! This year is flying by, and we are so enjoying watching your children learn and grow each day. We are so proud of all of our students and the many ways in which they shine.
Last night at the Board of Education meeting, I was able to honor some current, former, and future students who raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by playing musical instruments last fall. Thanks to Grant Benwitz, Jack Benwitz, Connor Chlopek, Dennis Chlopek, Gavin DeGeorge, Frankie DeGeorge, Rosie DeGeorge, Brennan Goodman, Connor Hales, Emmit Tone, and Harper Tone. We also recognized the contributions of our whole school community to the Knots of Love project. Stay tuned for more information about this March 16th event.
It was a wonderful night at the Board of Education meeting as our amazing PE teacher, Steve Shaffer, was recognized for receiving a Those Who Excel Award from the Illinois State Board of Education.
On March 22nd we look forward to viewing our young scientists' hard work at the Science Fair. Please see the information in the flyer below for information on how to sign up.
Lions Park was full of love and kindness on Valentine's Day! Thank you to the PTO for planning wonderful parties for our students. Thanks also to the PTO for providing heart-shaped pizza, salad, and soft drinks for our staff. We love our Lions Park students and their families!
Report cards will go home next Friday. This is an excellent time to celebrate successes and set goals for a strong finish to the school year. It is important that students maintain a strong work ethic and focus each and every day through the last day of school. While the end of the year may now be in sight, there is still a lot of important learning to do, and our teachers will continue to plan meaningful learning experiences.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
