It was a quick week here at Deerfield! A big thank you to our PTO for their help with Candy Grams. We hope all of the students enjoyed sending and receiving them. Also, I hope everyone was able to enjoy their snow day yesterday and stay safe. As we go into our Mid Winter Break there is important information in our newsletter this week so please read carefully this week.

In exciting news this week, our TK teacher Emily Akers was recognized as Deerfield's Outstanding Teacher of the Year! She is very deserving of this award and we are so happy for her. She values each and every one of her students and their parents. She is compassionate and caring. We appreciate her every single day!. Congratulations Mrs. Akers!

This week we're working on the character strength of LOVE. LOVE means you value close relationships with others and being close to people. Individuals with this strength might be described as: devoted, dedicated, loving, loyal, caring or supportive.

Spring picture day has been moved by Lifetouch to this coming Thursday February 20th. It will no longer take place on March 4th. Make sure your student comes to school looking their best!

We are so excited for our upcoming Glow Dance on Friday, February 21st from 6:00-7:30. This family event will be full of dancing, games, crafts, tattoos, snacks, and fun! Be sure to wear white or neon colors to “glow” with the lights. Please remember that all students need to have a parent/guardian present for the duration of the event. With the lights being turned down, we are also asking parents/guardians to remind your students not to run, and not to bring food/beverages on the dance floor. The glow dance is $10 per family at the door. Please bring cash, and if possible, exact change.

Little Caesars pizza kits will be available for you to pick up on Wednesday, February 19th from 3:45-5:30 p.m. You will come to the cafeteria to pick up your order. Remember to read the instructions for proper storage, and to get them into the fridge/freezer as soon as possible. We do not have the storage space to hold any orders, so please be sure to pick them up on time. Thank you for your support!

Wouldn't it be cool to design the cover for our school yearbook this year? If you're interested in submitting a design, it is due no later than Friday, February 21st. Design specifications were reviewed in art class this week:

~Must be black and white and contain the school name and current year (2024-25)

~Submit on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper

~Check for spelling errors!!!

~Leave a blank border around the edge

~Sign your artwork like an artist!

~Get creative and show your Deerfield spirit!

~Turn submissions in to either Mrs. Larson or Mrs. Splain

Lights! Camera! Action! It's time for the annual Deerfield Talent Show! We can't wait to see our Falcons share their unique and creative talents. The talent show will take place on Wednesday, April 9th during the school day at 9:30 a.m. If your student would like to perform in the show, you must register online by March 17th. Please note there is a mandatory rehearsal on Monday, April 7th after school from 3:40-4:30. See the attached flyer for more details. Mrs. Kowalski is excited to welcome volunteers to the Deerfield library this school year! Prior to volunteering, please turn the following items to Julianne Splain or Holly Kokotovich in the main office:

• a copy of the volunteer form (available in the office)
• a copy of your driver's license

Summer Camp Enrollment

We are now accepting applications for Summer Camp for children ages 2.9 years old to 5 years old who have not yet completed a year of TK/K. To apply, click here.

3-Year-Old Preschool Enrollment
For children entering our 3-Year-Old Preschool classrooms, please complete the registration form found here. Once submitted, we will email you an enrollment packet with all required documents, including the payment policy and a link to PowerSchool.

PreK for All/GSRP Enrollment
For children entering 4-Year-Old PreK programs (PreK for All/GSRP), please begin Phase One of the enrollment process by clicking here. Please follow the steps below to complete Phase One:

1. Select "Preschool (3-5 Year Olds)"
2. Enter your email
3. Check the box "Do you have a specific preschool you would like to apply for?"
4. Select Auburn Hills
5. Select Avondale School District
6. Submit documentation for family income, child's age, and residency.

Once Phase One is complete, we will contact you to schedule a Family Meeting and gather additional enrollment information during Phase Two.

ELC Open House
The district will host open houses at both Early Learning Center locations on February 5, 2025 from 6-7pm for those interested in learning more or visiting the schools. For more information, click here.
