Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year. I know many of you are excited to begin classes next week. Mrs. Mason, Mrs. DeYoung and myself are also excited to see you during Seminar. The first week of classes we anticipate students needing assistance with scheduling classes that may be cancelled and obtaining textbooks and materials. This update contains important information about scheduling, textbooks, Seminar, and student supports.

Fall Schedule Updates
As students need to schedule new classes due to class cancellations or schedule changes please use this short term guidance from the OCC Counseling Department for 8/26-9/2:
ACE students who are in need of assistance should still call and try to schedule a time to meet with a counselor. They can call 248-942-3050 to check availability or they can schedule themselves online within their MyOCC account within college resources then counseling.
However we recognize that these time slots tend to fill closer to the start of the school year.
Please ask them to email their concern/issue to ask a counselor. They can email HLASKACOUNSELOR@oaklandcc.edu in the subject line please right ACE student – Class Canceled (or whatever their concern is). We will be sure to respond quickly via email.
Copy Mrs. DeYoung and Dr. McKay on all schedule changes. Please see below for the schedule add/drop registration form.
The following counselors are suggested to work with our Oakland ACE students. However, if you have a connection with another counselor or are able to see another counselor at a time that works better with your schedule please feel free to see any OCC counselor that you wish.

Seminar and Student Support
In an effort to support students we plan to provide progress updates to families and enrolling high schools on a more frequent basis. The challenge with reporting grades in college classes is that college professors have complete autonomy as to when they grade work and update grade books. To the best of our ability we plan to provide student progress updates. Please see document below for schedule of Seminar weeks, progress updates and other important dates.
