“IF YOU PUT YOUR EFFORT AND CONCENTRATION INTO PLAYING TO YOUR POTENTIAL, TO BE THE BEST THAT YOU CAN BE, I DON’T CARE WHAT THE SCOREBOARD SAYS AT THE END OF THE GAME. IN MY BOOK, WE’RE GONNA BE WINNERS.”

Good Afternoon, CUSD,
Looking for a fun and educational activity this weekend? The San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering Expo Day is tomorrow, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Petco Park. This free event with over 100 exhibitors is packed with hands-on learning and exploring activities, stage performances, and more so kids of all ages and their families can engage in all things science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). This is the largest event of its kind in Southern California! It’s a collective effort between business leaders, community organizations, public outreach centers, academia, schools, school districts, and parents. Visit https://lovestemsd.org/ for more information.
Next week kicks off our National Nutrition Month celebration. Our Child Nutrition Services Department has some fun and tasty plans for each school site throughout the month of March. Check out details of the featured foods on the flyer below.
Our Portrait of a Graduate report to the community is now live on our website. You can see the digital magazine version HERE.

As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Nancy McGreevy shows great integrity in her work and relationships. She is always looking to better our school district and approaches problem solving with honesty and analytical skills. She can be counted on to dive into numbers, data, and details with precision and brilliance. She is well spoken and is committed to hearing out other points of view. Nancy is highly dedicated to her students and their learning. She is a true asset to our schools!
- VES PTO: Hosting the Ready, Set, Glow Dance!
- Meteline Miranda is so incredibly kind and positive and outgoing when she greets the kids (and their parents) for breakfast in the morning. Somehow she knew all the kid's names within days of the school year starting and is always so happy to see them. She's really a bright spot in our morning and an incredible ambassador for the school. She also taught me how to use the copy machine when I was volunteering at the school one day and I was struck by the fact that she still had the same amount of positive energy and kindness even at the tail end of her work day.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
