TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
We had a fantastic assembly this week, led by Mrs. Horan, where we highlighted our first character education trait - PRIDE.
Our guest speaker was Mr. Filson who read a great book that reminded us all to be proud of who we are! I personally could not be prouder of our amazing kids and how attentive and exceptional they were as we all gathered (600+ Strong!) in our Dining Room. I share with them often that I love assemblies because it is a special time when we are ALL together as Titus Tigers.
Sidenote...A special shoutout to Mrs. Tigerroar, who flew in for a surprise visit to celebrate our students' dedication last week at our Run for Funds!
As we look ahead to the new week, please remember that Thursday is Picture Day! Forms will be sent home today (Friday), so be sure to check your child's backpack.
Thank you for your continued support of Titus. Wishing you all a memorable weekend!
Warmest wishes.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
A Note For Mr. Filson:
I am thrilled to share that Mr. Filson's family welcomed their newest addition this week - a little girl!
I know you join me in congratulating the Filsons Party of 6. Wishing them all health and happiness.
Mr. Filson will be back in the building next week and his weekly message will be back :)
Mrs. Sclama Zaleski

Book Fair Information
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: October 21st – October 25th
Location: Titus Library
Family Event schedule and location: October 24th Trunk-or-Treat and Shop the Fair (6pm-8pm)
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/florencedtituselemschool
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fairâ„¢. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair. Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever. Happy reading,
Mrs. Paine

ABSENCES AND APPOINTMENTS
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.

CONTEST!
Submissions for Next Round of CBSD Lock Screen Contest Due 10/20
Congrats to Tohickon 9th grader Greidy Hernandez for winning the first round of CBSD's lock screen contest! Her original artwork will be featured on CBSD devices beginning October 7 through the rest of the month. The district now invites students to try their hand in the next round of the contest, inspired by CBSD's "Portrait of a Graduate" Effective Communicators attribute. Submissions are due Oct. 20. More details and how to submit.
COMMITTED TO ALL STUDENTS
Committed to an Inclusive Environment for Students with Disabilities
At Central Bucks, our mission is to equip every student, regardless of ability or need, with academic and problem-solving skills essential for personal growth, responsible citizenship and continuous learning. In recent years, the district has been working to create a continuum of special education services and programs in all schools to ensure students with disabilities can be educated in their home schools and alongside their peers, to the maximum extent possible, rather than transported to schools or locations outside their home school. Read more on the CBSD Pupil Services homepage.
CBSD HANDBOOK
24-25 CALENDAR
Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
New This Year: Limits on Due Dates for Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
In past years, the district has notified faculty in the week or weeks prior to religious or cultural observances to ensure they are cognizant of these events when assigning schoolwork. This year, the district has shared a year-long calendar of these observances with faculty and set guidelines on when no homework or summative tasks should be due.
Technology Fees
Device Usage Fees Due by October 30
It has been a great start to the school year with our student device distribution! All students will receive or continue using their assigned device. Before receiving a device, families in grades 3-6, 7, and 10, as well as new students, must complete the online user agreement and pay the usage fee. The elementary student fee is $15/year, while the fee for students in grades 7 and 10 is $60, which covers three years. Prorated fees apply for new secondary students. If you need financial assistance, please visit our website for details. Thank you for your cooperation. Next steps here: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1fee
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
