Principal Update
Guided by Truth: A Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends,
As we journey through the first week of Lent, we are reminded of the importance of reflection, prayer, and renewal. Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of this sacred season, inviting us to turn our hearts towards God and embrace the call to grow in faith. Hearing last Sunday’s Mass readings, we were encouraged to trust in God’s guidance and to choose paths of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion.
As a school community, let’s take this time to pause and consider how we can show love and care to those around us. I invite families to set aside moments for prayer together, to reflect on ways we can serve others, and to walk this Lenten journey with open hearts. How will you answer the call to grow closer to God this Lent?
In seeking Truth, we flourish.

Fostering a Flourishing Learning Environment
At our recent professional development day, staff had the opportunity to explore and reflect on the five dimensions of a flourishing classroom. It was inspiring to hear our educators share the thoughtful strategies and procedures they have put in place to ensure every child experiences a safe and supportive environment where they can learn and grow.
We recognise that each child is unique — just as we as adults benefit from understanding and flexibility in the workplace, children also thrive when their individual needs are acknowledged and supported. Whether further knowledge and understandings, developing self-regulation skills, building collaboration, or extending concentration levels, our staff are dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where all students can flourish. In assisting individuals, we are also helping children recognise the strengths and talents within each other, fostering a community where students uplift and learn from one another.
As a school community, we work in partnership with you and are committed to nurturing not only academic growth but also the wellbeing of every child, helping them grow into confident, compassionate, and resilient learners.
2025 Family Picnic
Thank you, P&F, for a wonderful night — A picnic of laughter, pure delight.
Children played, their smiles so wide, Laser tag and mini golf side by side.
The breeze was soft, the food a treat, Ice cream made the night complete.
Coffee in hand, parents shared a chat — Mrs Southwell was grateful for that!
Her first school gathering, warm and true, A perfect evening to meet all of you.
Joyful and fun, beneath the setting sun —Thank you to all for a job well done!
The Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct sets out the basic standards we all need to follow to keep our students safe and supported. It applies to staff, students, parents, guardians, and volunteers—everyone in our school community. At Santa Clara, we have 12 key statements that guide how adults should behave to ensure student safety. This week we feature Codes 3 and 4.

Requesting Onsite Therapy at Our School
At Santa Clara, we understand that some students may benefit from additional health, therapy, or well-being support. Parents and guardians who wish to engage an external service provider for onsite therapy must submit a request before scheduling any appointments.
All requests are carefully considered to ensure the therapy aligns with the student's educational goals and Individual Education Plan (IEP). Onsite therapy is valuable when it enhances learning outcomes and supports reasonable adjustments provided by the school. However, we must also take into account available space, our duty of care, and the impact on classroom learning.
Please note that all therapy sessions require school approval before appointments can be scheduled. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create the best learning environment for all students.
All requests are to be submitted to the Denise Grech (Assistant Principal) via email denise.grech@cewa.edu.au
