Major's Minute
The next morning, we walked into the kitchen to see that a crab had escaped into the shelves and just stood their trying to be invisible. But back into the bucket it went for safe keeping. Little did we know that the adventure would continue for TWO crabs escaped. The second crab was found hiding on the floor behind a couch.
So lessons from our crabbing experience:
1) God will equip and teach us new things as we journey through life.
2) We may feel trapped and have a sense of hopelessness at times, but God will rescue us.
3) God provides our daily bread - sometimes in the form of crab!
It's good to be home!

FEARLESS MEN'S RETREAT
The weekend of August 18-20 is going to be a time to remember for those who attend this year’s Golden State Men’s Fellowship Retreat. We want to ensure that every man who wants to attend has the opportunity to do so. Ever since the pandemic, our society has been gripped with fear. Fear of a virus, fear of losing employment, fear of a collapsing economy, fear that things will never be like before, fear of what might happen next, an fear of how to lead our families and churches through all that lies ahead. This year’s Men’s Fellowship Retreat will tackle fear, head on. The theme for the weekend is FEARLESS.

Update – August 9, 2023
The Salvation Army responds to Maui wildfires with mass feeding for thousands at Maui County/American Red Cross shelters
- Large volume meal donations being requested from restaurants and certified kitchens for meal service at shelters; monetary donations needed to support feeding efforts -
HONOLULU (August 9, 2023) – The Salvation Army’s Kahului Corps is starting mass feedings for thousands at Maui County/American Red Cross shelter in response to the various evacuations for wildfires. They began providing meals last evening for the approximately 50 individuals who had taken shelter in Maui County’s/American Red Cross Pukalani shelter. That is now expanding across the island.
“The Salvation Army began providing meals at the Pukalani shelter last evening and is expanding to provide mass feedings for all shelters on Maui, in collaboration with Maui County and American Red Cross,” said Victor Leonardi, Divisional Director of Emergency Services & Safety for The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division.
In addition, large volume meal donations are being requested from local restaurants and certified kitchens [due to health safety food preparation standards] for meal service at shelters starting Wednesday, August 10 [meal service is already covered until this date]. Please note, smaller, home-prepared foods and meals, cannot be accepted for meal service at shelters due to health safety food preparation standards.
Leonardi continued, “During emergencies, the best way the public can help is to provide monetary donations which allows the delivery of the exact relief supplies a community needs. Plus, The Salvation Army uses one-hundred percent of all donations designated ‘disaster relief’ in support of disaster operations.”
The Salvation Army is part of a team of agencies providing assistance during events and is a member of the State of Hawaii Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). Additionally, The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division is prepared to respond with community assistance as needed across the state due to the heavy winds and fires.
Donations may be made online at Hawaii.SalvationArmy.org. Listings of current volunteer opportunities also may be found at Hawaii.SalvationArmy.org.
Promotion to Glory on August 4
It is with great sadness we share with you, tonight, Major Bob Louangamath received his ultimate healing. Surrounded by family and friends, sharing scripture, and singing praise, Bob received his Promotion to Glory.
John 11:25-26
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
Joanne asked for this song to be shared as we stood together.
… I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
… I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In the darkest night
You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God
This is and was their testimony. Joanne and the girls are so thankful for their Army family, and the prayers, texts, and love during Bob's brief illness. They will continue to need our prayers and support in the days and months ahead.
Cards can be sent to the family at:
