A Message From the Principal
This week flew by with our shortened schedule due to the snow day! So many exciting events took place. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. Report cards are now available on the portal. We also had Breakfast with the Principal, and we extend our thanks to the parents who were able to attend.
On Friday, we celebrated the 100th day of school! In addition, we honored our incredible counselors—Mrs. Acevedo, Mrs. Jacome, and Mrs. Cuas—for National School Counseling Week. We truly appreciate all they do for our students. Be sure to check out the special tribute video in the newsletter!
We are excited to announce our new PTA officers:
President: Angela Spiropoulos
Vice President: Megan Berg
Treasurer: MJ Sperry
Secretary: Ivette Olivera
A huge thank you to our outgoing PTA officers for their hard work and dedication during this transition!
The PTA is also sponsoring a Valentine’s Day Candy-Gram. Flyers were sent home with students and are available in the newsletter. Orders are due by February 12th.
Our third grade is leading a "Souper Bowl" food drive, with all proceeds benefiting the Dover community. Thank you in advance for your support!
Our 6th grade Honor Roll, Grades 3-5 Tiger Rising Achievement Awards, and Creative Expression Recipients will be honored on Thursday, February 13th at 9: 00 AM. Letters were sent home with students today regarding these recognitions.
We also have a special event coming up for our kindergarteners! Mrs. McLain and Mrs. Wright’s classes will take part in the wedding of Q & U on Valentine’s Day at 1:15 PM. Invitations have been sent home to families—it's sure to be a memorable celebration!
As a reminder, there will be no school for students on Monday due to our staff in-service day. Stay warm and enjoy the snow!
Important Message to Parents: The Importance of School Attendance
Attendance is essential to your child’s success! Every day in school matters, and consistent attendance helps children develop strong academic skills, social connections, and good habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Please take a moment to review our attendance policies:
📌 Policy #5200 – Attendance
📌 Policy #8140 – Student Enrollments
Students must be in school to learn. When children miss too many days, they fall behind and struggle to keep up with their classmates. Chronic absenteeism, even in early grades, can have a lasting impact on academic achievement.
We understand that there may be challenges in getting your child to school every day. If you need assistance, please reach out—we are here to help!
For additional resources and strategies on improving school attendance, visit Attendance Works.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring your child’s success!

PBIS is a proactive, school-wide framework designed to promote and reinforce positive behavior while preventing and addressing behavioral issues. We promoted a Random Act of Kindness Contest in January to support our PBIS Initiative. We are pleased to announce the students in each homeroom per grade level that performed the most Random Acts of Kindness during the month of January. They were the following:
Kindergarten - Mrs. Wright’s class
First Grade - Mrs. Gambelunghe’s Class
Second Grade - Mrs. Mungo’s class
Third Grade - Mrs. Tiedemann’s class
Fourth Grade - Mrs. Laboy’s Class
Fifth Grade - Mr. Hornincewich’s class
Fifth and Sixth Grade Combined - Mrs. Trexler’s Class
SIxth Grade - Ms. Capozzi Smith’s class
All of these classes except Mrs. Tiedemann’s class will get 10 minutes of additional recess at the teacher’s discretion. Mrs. Tiedemann’s class is the overall winner with 40 Random Acts of Kindness during the month of January. They will receive twenty minutes of additional recess at the teacher’s discretion.
