News From Our Library
Daily reading is important for students to strengthen their literacy skills and we seek to provide a variety of reading materials for students to access at school. We also want to ensure that parents have the ability to review their child’s reading choices and provide input on the types of materials they can access.
If you would like to access your child’s district library account to view their check outs, you can do so by logging in as your child through Classlink (our single-sign-on system available through the district website Quick Links). Once logged into Classlink, users have access to a listing of all of the books available to check out through our school libraries by clicking on Destiny Discover (physical books) or Sora (electronic books and audiobooks). Students can provide parents/guardians with their login information for Classlink.
Access to digital and print library books is determined by grade level (K-5 Juvenile/Elementary, 6-8 Young Adult/Middle School, 9-12 Adult/High School). If you would like to request restricted or extended access for your child(ren) that differs from this list, please complete this online form.
Questions about this information can be directed to library@oasd.org. All other inquiries should continue to be directed to your school libraries.
A Note from Principal Werchowski
Dress Code Reminder:
To help everyone start the year on the right foot, here’s a quick reminder of our dress code expectations, as outlined in the handbook:
Cleanliness & Safety: All students should prioritize cleanliness, health, neatness, and safety in their appearance. Clothing should be appropriate for school activities and ready for learning.
Prohibited Items: Clothing, jewelry, pocket chains, or footwear that might damage school property or pose a safety risk should be left at home.
Classroom Readiness: Coats and outerwear should be placed in lockers during school hours. Backpacks and handbags should also remain in lockers, not in classrooms.
Appropriate Attire: Clothing that draws inappropriate attention, such as tops with narrow straps, garments revealing cleavage, midriff, or back, and extremely short or tight shorts/skorts, is not allowed.
Headgear: Hoods, hats, and sunglasses should not be worn in learning spaces unless specified by permission.
Prohibited Messaging: Clothing displaying obscenity, sexual innuendo, or promoting substances like alcohol or tobacco is not allowed, as well as anything depicting gang affiliation.
Students who need to adjust their attire during the school day will be asked to change or provided with alternative clothing from our health room if necessary.
MAP Testing:
MAP testing is scheduled for September 9th-11th. Students will have the option to listen to directions, so please ensure they have corded earbuds ready.

Lost and Found
Any item found out of place at NHI can be located in our lost and found. This collection sits in our cafeteria, where students can look through it any time they'd like. We donate items left behind three or four times a year. Parents will be warned two weeks before a planned donation date with a notice here in the Wolf Pack Press.
NHI Attendance
To report an absence or to arrange same day pick up for an appointment:
- Call 262-569-4942.
- Use the online absence request system in family access. Click the "Absence Request" link on the upper right hand side of the attendance tab.
- Send an email to: NHIAttendance@oasd.org
Do not call the main office number with attendance information. The attendance line is monitored continuously and is set up specifically to receive attendance calls.

We are thrilled to introduce new annual sports passes for families, individuals, and 4K-8th grade students! These passes provide unlimited access to all OHS home games, for all sports, for the 2024-2025 school year. With an annual pass, you can support our Raccoons while enjoying the convenience of not having to purchase individual tickets for each event. https://www.oasd.k12.wi.us/schools/athletics/tickets/ Please note that elementary and intermediate age children must be supervised by an adult, parent, or guardian at all OHS athletic events and must have an electronic ticket in order to enter events. Your support and supervision ensures a positive atmosphere and that everyone has a great time.
Work Permit Process
Parents of students 16 and younger seeking a work permit, will now log on to the Department of Workforce Developments page and use their permit application tool. Here is the link: Work Permit.
This new system will allow you to apply for a permit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer, tablet or smartphone. You will make your payment through the system as well. The department will mail a paper copy of the permit directly to your child's employer.
