Weekly Update from SGS
November 16, 2024
A Message From the Heads of School
As of November 11, we switched to winter uniforms. You can check our handbook for clothing and shoe details. Gym clothes and sneakers should only be worn on gym days, and sneakers should be modest, without bright colors and/or glitter.
Please let us know if you are having trouble outfitting your child.
PLEASE label your child's clothes. Our Lost & Found collection is already growing.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching. Here at school we will continue to focus on gratitude and count our blessings, beginning with our students and their families. We appreciate you!
Gobble, Gobble!
Our preschoolers enjoyed working with their Guardian Angels from grades 3, 4, 7 and 8.
Election News
Students in Grade 1 competed in an essay contest. Here are the winning entries:
Christmas Around the World
Just a reminder that the K-8 Chorus and our Bands will be presenting their Christmas Concert on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
Student attendance is expected in all grade levels!!
We will be singing Christmas Carols from different countries and learning about some of their customs.
I have told the students that they can dress in attire from different countries if they would like……if not, Sunday best!!!
We will be having a little reception after the concert. More details coming on this a bit later…..but I’m asking the students to bring in food from a country that is their nationality or ethnic background.
Please have your child to the school no later than 5:45. The children will go to their classrooms upon arrival. Mr. Barakat will give his band students his specific directions. The students have been working super hard and can’t wait to spread some holiday cheer!!!
Thank you,
Ms. Beth Surapine

Calling All Crafters!
Embrace the Spirit of Saint Nicholas!
Our Saint Nicholas Shoppe was launched by Saint Gabriel School’s environmental club in 2021 as a way to emphasize generosity and stewardship for God’s creation as we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s Nativity. This observance of Saint Nicholas Day continues to offer a Christ-centered alternative to the forces of consumerism and materialism that threaten to drown out the message of Advent.
Do you knit or crochet? Do you enjoy woodworking or jewelry-making? Do you have a talent for making Christmas ornaments? All items lovingly donated by members of our school community will be sold at a reasonable cost to our students, friends and families on Saint Nicholas Day on Friday, December 6, 2024. This joyful event provides a way for our students to shop for small, meaningful Christmas gifts for their parents and other family members. Your participation is a beautiful way to serve our school community and to support our students in their efforts to imitate Saint Nicholas.

Lunch from Bart's
Boxed lunches from Bart’s are now on hiatus. We will poll the interest later in the year to make a decision about resuming this program. Until then, please help your child pack a snack and a lunch.
World's Easiest Fundraiser
Help us by using gift cards for your shopping.
Flyers went home, and you can ask for new copies. Go to RaiseRight.com and start your Christmas shopping!
When you purchase various cards at face value through the school or right on your phone, SGS will keep a percentage to be credited to your fundraising assessment. Everybody wins!
An example:
I buy $150 for Shop Rite each week and SGS keeps $6.
My kids like Old Navy, so I buy $50 for each for Christmas and SGS keeps $28.
A visit to Grandmom's means a stay at Courtyard and SGS keeps $18.
My friend has a baby so I buy $50 for Children's Place and SGS keeps $6.
I'm having friends over for a crafts night so I buy $25 for Michael's and SGS keeps $1.
That's $59 of fundraising, and I didn't have to buy wrapping paper or chocolates!
Calling All Volunteers!
Adults who would like to volunteer within our school must complete online Virtus training and submit a copy of their certificate to the school office. www.virtusonline.org
